What are you currently watching?

I watch history channels on YouTube, my favourite currently is ‘Well I Never’. I am really looking forward to the next series of ‘Stranger Things’ coming soon. I tend to go for documentaries like ‘A House Through Time’ and ‘Digging for Britain’ because I like how David Olusoga and Alice Roberts speak.

Tresspasses, I've seen that advertised recently. I'm definitely going to catch it.

I like Gillian Anderson, she was great in The Fall and Hannibal.

I stream on my tablet thru WiFi.

I've downloaded six different streaming apps .  The easiest is BBC iPlayer because it has no commercials.

The Channel 4 TV drama “Tresspasses” based on the book by Louise Kennedy. It is set in an unnamed town in N. Ireland, but most people from here of my age or older know the drama is centred around a well known bar (which in reality was owned by the author’s grandmother) in Holywood, Co. Down. It is set during “The Troubles” in the 1970s and it tells the story of Cushla, a young Catholic teacher who works in the family bar in the evenings. She meets a Protestant barrister and cross-community forbidden love commences …

BBC2’s ‘Newsnight’, and ‘Empire’ with David Olusoga which looks at the history and legacy of the British Empire.

BBC1’s ‘Have I Got News For You’, a comedy news quiz show.

Since I'm late diagnosed and still figuring out my own stims, I've been watching television and films with autistic characters and trying out their stims to see what resonates with me. I like Big Bang Theory, House, Rain Man, Jack of the Red Hearts, and Music.

Quite a lot of TVs offer recording as an option now ( it is called PVR ) so that would in theory replace the need for the Humax box, but has the complication of being a bit more costly.

Which did quite a good article covering the current range or recording options which you may find helpful, or if it makes your eyes glaze over then you can get someone you trust to help look over and recommend a replacement when the time comes.

You can use a Smart TV which has the Freeview app installed (most have this built in) and either an external box like Humax or with inbuilt PVR.

Get someone you trust to show you how to use it when it is installed and it should make sense after some practice. Your tech skills are actually not that bad as you can operate the existing on and post on here.

Our internet connection is being particularly bad today.

I did look at smart tv's and was totally confused by them, the one thing I did find out was that I'd still need my humax box to be able to record or pause live tv. I don't think I watch enough tv to make it worth having a subscription to somethng like netflicks. I have looked at whats on all these subscription channels and I can see maybe one or two programs a week that I might watch.

I think my humax box is getting on a bit now and has to think about things for wuite a long time before doing them, it got really bad at turning itself off when you go to change channel or to the tv guide page.

Most people have smart TVs with streaming TV links build into them so all you need to do is pay a subscription, enter the username and password into the screen on the TV and you can scroll through their interface menus to watch the shows - kind of like Freeview.

You can also go the streaming companies website (eg netflix.com) sign in with the account you got with your subscription and you get much the same menu but through a web page and it all plays in your web browser.

This option means you can use a computer to connect to an older non-Smart TV and get the same results, or you can take it with you when you travel (good on train journeys or boring holidays).

If you can use your Humax box then you will be able to manage the interface I'm sure.

It needs a decent internet connection which I think you said you don't have, so your experience would be poor anyway

I have no choice but to stream now as I haven’t bothered renewing my licence lol  

Strictly, Bettany Hughes, Treasures of the Ancient World, Trigger Point, Game of Wool, Newsnight, Only Connect and University Challenge are some of the programes I've watched over the last week.

Unlike most of you I don't stream anything

I’ll just be honest here. I’ve been watching SpongeBob! Every now and then I’ll link my phone to the tv and watch the Kirby anime on daily motion but I haven’t done that for a while. But if I’m honest I’ve been playing games on my tv more than anything 

Star Maidens on Rewind tv.  A classic, so bad, it's good.
