Milk, on its own (but fine in tea).
Cottage or goats cheese.
Any plate of food that is all gloop/paste with no texture contrast (soups and stews are fine though).
Roasted starchy veg that hasn't been crisped/browned properly - eg roasted sweet potatoes or carrots with crispy charred edges = yum. Sweet potato uniformly soft or fibery = vom.
My wife and I speak alien languages when it comes to food and its texture.
Cottage cheese
All fish and seafood
fruit ( apple okay with cheese)
anything with bones in it.
Blancmange
Meat as in joints or steaks, mince sausages okay..
garlic
Tapioca pudding
jam with bits in it.
baked beans (evil)
tinned tomatoes
cold custard
liquorice
I'm veggie now but when I did eat meat, bacon, crispy bacon most of all.
Anything BBQ'ed.
Turnips, raddishes, celeriac and khol rabi.
Mangos, bananas, pretty much all tropical fruit.
Sweetcorn
Jelly babies and most other sweets, including licquorice.
Milky drinks and pudding like rice pudding, horrible suff. Porridge made with milk and/or sugar
Chinese food, especially sweet and sour anything.
They definitely need some acidity.
Earl grey tea.
I had a similar experience with lapsang souchong.
Once tasted never forgotten.
Liver
Kidneys
Burnt toast, hate the smell of it
Undercooked fish
Most seafood
Earl grey tea. My first landlady insisted on it. I hated it on first taste and still hate it just as much now.
Beer. I enjoy Cidar.
Skimmed milk, full cream for me.
Undercooked food.
Prawns.
Any tea and coffee made by anyone but me.
Cheap sausages are vile. I can't believe people buy Richmond sausages. They are basically fat and fillers, like the ecomomy sausages you used to get from Iceland. They made a vegan sausage, which is the same taste as their 'meat' ones. They didn't have to change much, as it's just flavoured filler.
I like a good Cumberland sausage with actual meat inside. I had trouble eating them last week, as all I could see was the mistreated pigs I saw on TikTok. They can't move around and are forced to breed. They are covered in faeces and flies. Imagine not being able to move.
I will eat most other things, except snails and frog legs - less from the usual reasons and more to do with harrowing experiences as a zoology student.
I wouldn't take biology O level because I couldn't bear to cut things up. Not that I can eat snails or frogs legs, but that's for other reasons.
Sliced white bread
Do you mean that sliced wallpaper paste they sell racks of in supermarkets? I can take it toasted if I have to, but not any other way. Can you you bear it toasted?
Okra (or anything slimy).
Cherries
marzipan
anything with aniseed.
liquorice. My favourite school insisted on us eating some liquorice after lunch and then an apple. They wanted everyone to show their teeth after the liquorice and then after the apple, to show how healthy an apple was. I had meltdowns until they gave up.
icing. (You can imagine that wedding cake - cherries, marzipan. icing - is an absolute no no.
anything coated in batter. Although oddly, I enjoy pancakes. Maybe it's because stuff coated in batter is usually fried and the fat renders it slimy for me (see first entry).
The taste/perception of food has been damaged by my illnesses. I used to like cherries, but I find most of them too sweet now. I prefer them with a medium brix with decent acidity. Frisco and Santina are my favourites. My local greengrocer must think I'm crazy.
I when I go to buy cherries from him, I check each box for the label to see what variety they are. I know what I'm looking for and what to avoid. Sometimes he picks out the bad ones and dumps a mix of cherry varieties into a random box and makes up a fancy name for them. He's very nice to me though. He askes me try them first before buying.
The staff have asked my mother if I'm autistic lol. Guilty as charged.
The best cherry I ever tasted was Santina from the greengrocers. The staff asked me to try them and they were perfectly balanced with sugar (brix) and acidity. Each cherry just gave you a burst of flavour.
I've seen Santina and Frisco in supermarkets and they are not the same. The only Frisco cherries that are the real deal are sold in fruit markets under the Toya brand.
I like to pour lemon juice on them with a pinch of salt.
also crisps
mashed potato and peas are the ones I HATE, the texture is so bad.
Avocado: Cut in half, remove the stone, and fill the hollow with lashings of cayenne pepper and balsamic vinegar, then eat with a spoon. (It is not bland then!!)
I have variable food intolerances - they change and I often take too long working out what the culprit is.
Those aside, my dislikes are carrots (especially when soft), Marmite (vile industrial sludge), fat (unless it is crisp), tripe and anything resembling blancmange.
I will eat most other things, except snails and frog legs - less from the usual reasons and more to do with harrowing experiences as a zoology student.
I will not eat: Broad/butter beans, Mustard, Beetroot, Celery, Sliced white bread, tofu, chickpeas, lentils, Raw fresh fruit (only like it cooked, tinned or those fruit pots) I dislike most breakfast cereals except muesli, porridge or choco rice.
Falafel, hummus, quinoa & avacado - never tried them and don't want to.
I won't eat blue cheese, but I like it in salad dressing or soup.
