About cheeses - what are your favourites? How do you like to eat them?

I love cheese, soft or hard, except for gorgonzola! I am puzzled why mozzarella is used for pizza as it doesn't taste of anything [unless anyone can recommend a particular make?]. My favourite is vintage cheddar on toast with Branston small chunk pickle, or a simple flavouring like tumeric or vinegar. Also, a ploughmans with a large baked potato, home-made coleslaw [chopped radish, grated carrot & onion with Heinz Seriously Good mayo], crusty bread and a glass of lager.

  • Love so many cheeses

Does anyone like port and Stilton sauce on steak? I absolutely love this.

Might not go down well with some but I love pineapple, I sometimes have pineapple on cheese garlic bread from the takeaway

  • Tesco used to do a nutroast with stilton sauce. It was a frozen thing but I still used to quite enjoy that. Hate to be vulgar, but my colleagues never enjoyed it quite so much, because it did have other effects on me.

Castello do a pineapple ring cheese. I've never tried it because it has gelatine in it. Cheese and pineapple on cocktail sticks was a huge thing when I was a kid.

  • Yeah i know what you mean about vegan being more prioritized over vegetarian food. I had a vegan yoghurt once it was awful, tasted like flour.

I didn't mind nut roast but had to be careful that they didn't have cashew nuts in as I was allergic.

  • Yeah, Quorn did go through a period of being criticised. They ended up removing egg from a lot of their products and making vegan quorn. I've been veggie since 1996. It was much harder in the early days, now everything is vegan first and veggie second. I'm not a fan of vegan cheese.

That nut roast is long gone, sadly. So hard to get a decent nut roast these days

  • Oh I've never knew tesco did nutroast with Stilton sauce.

I use to be a vegetarian for 17 years but stopped almost 9 years ago now, was struggling with the food I was being very picky, stopped eating quorn because of media putting me off it.

Yeah pineapple and cheese on sticks were at most party/get togethers when I was young too.
