Anyone else rewatch programmes they like even if they're from their childhood as it comforts them?

Buffy the vampire slayer for me. That was my world. Was a massive fan.
But also to turn my brain off I've gone back to house md which really helps when I'm stressed.
An old but gold series I've delved into is ER. It's less about the hospital and more story driven. I was very young when I watched it but re-watching it now and it's aged quite well.
Anyone re-watched things and realised it's not aged well? I binged friends a few years back and was appalled by the characters actually. I kind of resent that series a bit - it did give me a strange expectation of what friends or friendships should look like.
Crazy so many of these posts are the same - going back to childhood things for comfort I thought it was something weird about that. Clearly not!
Knowing me I'll probably go back to batman animated series and other cartoons but it's the TV shows at the moment.
Brings back memories...!
I used to love Trumpton and Camberwick Green. The beginning and end of each episode had a pleasant predictability yet the interesting events in the middle kept them interesting. Thunderbirds was nearly as good.
The Thunderbird toys were good and I had Thunderbird 2 as well.
I recall a Blue Peter episode where Anthea Turner showed how to make your own (model) Tracy Island - found the footage here
Thunderbirds and Stingray... I used to be obsessed with those when I was 5. I even a toy Thunderbird 2 and the Tracy Island playset from the early 2000s
Yes, I frequently rewatch Mobile Fighter G-Gundam, SpongeBob SquarePants, Dragon Ball, Rick and Morty, actually what's really interesting about rewatching things after you finish them is that you get a totally different perspective on the show's events, certain details that eluded or puzzled you on your first watch suddenly become more apparent
Not too long ago, I rewatched Sonic X because I loved it during my childhood. Immediately what I noticed was the show was actually more of a comedy than what I remember.
I also tried rewatching Flint the Time Detective because I remember enjoying it during my early childhood. Unfortunately, the nostalgia was literally all I got from it because I found that the show was actually kinda terrible...
..ooh and I forgot Thunderbirds, Stingray, etc
Yes! I love going back to my childhood favourites, even if the production values weren't always great in the late 1960s and 1970s. Trumpton, Camberwick Green, Chigley, The Magic Roundabout... I also go back to later gems like Father Ted, Phoenix Nights, (rebooted) Doctor Who, etc. Comforting is the right word and a joy in enjoying them again.
I happily rewatch Doctor Who. My favourite Doctors were Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant.
There are certain things that if they are repeated on TV that I will rewatch, Father Ted being the prime example. I do occasionally rewatch an entire show when I just get the idea that is like to see it all again. I don't think it's because I searching for comfort, it's more of a reminder on why I enjoyed it the first time.
I do have comfort movies which I have seen multiple times, some are genuinely fun like The Princess Bride or Little Shop of Horrors, others like The Thing (1982 version) just tickles my brain, the musical score is just so familiar.
For me rewatching childhood things as a adult just exposes their flaws and I'd rather keep those (very) limited memories intact.
Yes definitely. We enjoy things especially music shows and concerts from the 80s and 90s. Also weve a few movies we watch over and over. Many are themed around the Bloomsbury Group, Vita and Virginia, and Carrington are two examples. I collect and read their books regularly too, Vita Sackville-West is my favourite author of the group, especially her poetry.
Yes! I'm planning to rewatch Miranda over the weekend. I loved it growing up and rewatched it last Christmas too. Thinking about Christmas, I do also rewatch the cbeebies pantos every year too. It's nice to watch something that's comforting as lots of things are very serious and dramatic
I love The Worst Witch, Tracey Beaker from my childhood!
I've just recently finished the first Starfleet Academy Series! I used to love Doctor Who when David Tennant, Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi and Jodie Whittaker was in it (David and Jodie are my fav doctors), but I went off it after Jodie left I've been rewatching The Worst Witch
Come to think of it, I would happily rewatch The Magic Roundabout, The Clangers, and Noggin the Nog.
Yes, I love Magic Roundabout, The Night Garden [for Derek Jacobi's soothing voice] and The Clangers.
I do rewatch TV programmes, but not usually ones from my childhood (not after the disappointment of discovering how bad the original Dr Who, Star Trek, and Blake's Seven series really were). At the moment, I'm rewatching Time Team, Midsomer Murders, and New Tricks.
