Failed!

Hi everybody, Matthew here.

This morning I was supposed to go to a carehome to see my ill gran with my dad. Sadly though I backed out this morning and already I am feeling disappointed with myself. It's like what I said yesterday, I have medicene which means I'd travel ok and yet I still don't travel.

Does anyone else on the forum have travel issues, if so I'd love to hear from you Smile If anyone thinks they can help then please reply:

Thanks,

Matthew.

  • Thank you for the reply.

I am hoping that my travelling will improve soon. I think my mum and dad will be taking me to a thearpy group soon. Hopefully that will sort out my travelling problem.

    Kindest regards,

    Matthew.

  • Try not to see yourself as a failure. Each new day is a fresh start and you can try anew. In time, if the will is there, you will be able to go out in the car. You clearly want to do this very much, and this suggests that, in your own good time, you will achieve this goal Smile

  • Yeah your right she does sound like she has ASD. But at least she is happy. Smile

I will get some exercise, that's a fabulous idea but Worry time I tried it once before. Sadly it does not work for me, though I think it works for other people. Boredom may also be the cause of my worrying - I do the same thing every single day and that may cause me to get bored and start to worry.

Thank you so much for your reply Y'lass.

    Kindest regards,

    Matthew.

  • Hey again Y'lass,

I did some research and there is an ASD support group two miles from where I live. If I can get out in the car perhaps my mum and dad will take me to this support group to find out if I can be a part of it. I would also check the local school but I do not go to school anymore, I'm home taught by my mum and dad. Secondary school was quite big for me and it was pretty much when I found out I had ASD, pretty much it was when all my problems started.

When did you find out your daughter had ASD? Did she start to act differntly to other children or like me did she stop going out?

Thanks a lot for your reply. I'm glad we can help each other out, your advice is very kind and I'm going to continue looking in to the ASD support groups.

    Thanks Y'lass.

    Kindest regards,

    Matthew.

  • Hi.

Yeah a few months ago I went to see my gran at the carehome and that was tiring enough. After we left the carehome we went for lunch and sadly that kind of put me off. I was doing so well but the pub we went to got rather packed and it is places like that that put me of. Well mum and dad look in to CBT I will browse the web for some support groups, do you know any which you might be able to reccommend?

Thanks for the reply Y'lass. I'm glad there's someone on here who I can talk to.

    Kindest regards,

    Matthew. Smile

  • Hey Yorkshirelass me again.

I think i enjoy going out but for some reason everytime I plan to go out I just don't go usually in the end. It annoys me often and makes me feel quite sad. My family and I often leave places earlier than other people, a few years ago we went to a christmas meal with my gran and grampy and we left early. Whenever I go out it usually tires me out, is your daughter the same, does she get tired easily?

ASD can be a real pain when it comes to being Anxious. When your daughter bites her nails do you ask her what she's worrying about? Because usually when I'm asked what I am worrying about I usually don't know, I guess I just worry myself silly!

I do have a little faith in doctors. Two weeks ago my dad collapsed due to stress, he's fine now but at the time we thought he might have had a heart attack, that day was very scary but the paramedics were amazing and I now do have a little faith in them. It's my dads stress that brought me to this forum actually, instead of telling my problems to him and mum I now ask this brilliant community. Smile

Nice talking with you Yorkshirelass. Can't wait to hear from you again.

Thanks for the reply. Stay safe.

    Kindest regards,

    Matthew.

  • Hi Yorkshirelass,

I'm glad I am helping you out with your daughter. Yes I bite my nails a lot and sometimes it can be a right pain, I worry a lot mainly about nothing just small things though I have worried about large things like health but usually I worry about nothing. I also have medicene though it was not prescribed my the GP, I don't like doctors. I'm glad your daughter goes out, does she enjoy going out?

I really appreciate the help you are giving me. Thanks a lot. I'm also glad that I'm helping you out with your daughter.

    Thanks for the help Yorkshirelass,

    Kindest regards,

    Matthew.

  • Hi Yorkshirelass,

I think I will soon start to see a CBT therapist, this may help. Yeah I do sit in the front seat of the car but I also have medicene and yet I still don't go out. This bothers me a lot, how does your daughter travel? Is she like me?

Thank you for the reply and advice.

    Kindest regards,

    Matthew.
