Angels

It is a brilliant book, and although it is aimed at general readers who have an interest in the subject, it has footnotes and is fully referenced, so you can check out the sources. 

Jack Miles, of the Catholic Herald (a conservative Catholic newspaper) wrote what I think is my favourite review of a book, ever:

“Boldly simple in concept, God: An Anatomy is stunning in its execution. It is a tour de force, a triumph, and I write this as one who disagrees with Stavrakopoulou both on broad theoretical grounds and one who finds himself engaged with her in one narrow textual spat after another … A stunning book.”

I have heard this type of story before, it’s rare but the stories all follow the same pattern. The patient leaves the body while under and reports being able to see themselves laying on the operating table.  

He described looking down at himself on the bed and floating around the room, he saw some stuff on top of a cupboard, when he came round he described to the nurses what he'd seen and they didn't believe him, he insisted that they stand on a chair and look, they found what he'd described. The cupboard was to high for anyone to have seen what was on top unless they were standing on a chair or set of steps. 

I was told this when I was quite young and I don't ever remember meeting the uncle in question as he and my aunt lived in America, he died of cardiac problems some time later.

That’s really interesting, how did he describe it if you are willing to share?

My head is too overloaded sym so I won’t go into tok much detail as to why etc but I really think it proves the after life anyway gunna log out now play some guitar and stuff 

My uncle had an NDE when he was having cardiac surgery.

Also I think this becuase ive heard stories of people who say they died in theatre and went to heaven met someone they’d met at a older age but they saw them at a younger age perhaps becuase this was the image they wanted people to see and when they came back and described them despite never seeing any photos of them young got told yes thats right down to the hair and clothes 

i disbelieve that near death experiance a are the brain playing tricks becuase if that’s true how come people have come back and said why is there a shoe on the hospital roof that x colour and brand snd the staff have later confirmed this 

 also believe that we don’t spend long in heaven until we are given a new body i just hope if this is true I get a good life again similar to this one but minus any trauma snd if I’m autistic again I’d rather know from childhood if I knew I was autistic when I was younger I could of mabie avoided the peer pressure of drinking in fields or as nt call it “coming of age rights” those experiences very rarely added much to my life 

also I very often pray these words to god “lord I know you guide me and I trust in you that you will find me the path thats right for me” and not long after my life changes for the better like I’ll start a new job or do better in my current job

i believe god guided me out of previous music self employment to allow me to gain experiance wirh people via cleaning and retail to help me know my self worth an build a more sustainable buisness this time 

 also believe he gave me the really good work meeting last week so I know keeping this job on top of my buisness will be my path to success and will allow me to save money up

I completely agree with you there. I do have a more Christian view on things, but I can see what you are saying about Christians saying their kids are little angels too. And ok to the left handed thing. I think it’s because there have been “religious” schools and places that punish those who are left handed and say we are from the devil. This is where I think people use religion as their excuse to bully in hope that God will forgive them. But that was years ago when my dad was in school and he’s right handed anyway. 

I also want to add that I also believe in the existence of Greek and Egyptian Gods and Goddesses and religions  as well. 

Aww wow I would find that so soothing, say it’s like an outer world experience so who knows I’ve been to one in London and two in Liverpool! All of which I’ve had this real tranquil feeling! If you ask me it’s like a part of Heaven is on earth. 

I believe any angelic being merely exists as an energy in the kingdom of heaven 

i also believe in heaven we will all just be energies and the form that others see of us will be of their choosing based on how they want to remember us on this earth so you may choose to see your son as a young kid but they may see you as a middle aged man 

I’ve been to Canterbury Cathedral while they had a choir there. Was quite a surreal experience hearing their voices echoing around and hearing them where ever you were in the cathedral. 

I would say you could be right. 

I believe that the negative connotations of being left handed evolved from human ignorance and I haven’t come across any references to God condemning people for being left handed.

Your belief about the place of angels in relation to humans is what most Christian denominations teach and what the Bible shows, but I think some Christians talk about their children as angels, not realising what they are saying. 

I can understand that. Taking Christianity more seriously has opened up a more calming space and world for me. Like before I moved out my parents house I remember playing my switch each night and looking in the sky and feeling some sort of special energy. Same thing happens when I go to a cathedral, like I’ve escaped from the real world! But that’s me. 

I envy those who are able to believe because it must open up the mind and soul to another world. I do think it’s a personal journey religion and everyone’s relationship with their god will be a special one. I’ve gone down the path of religion as a way to control the masses and this does make sense but the soul craves more than the physical realm.

I’ve always had faith but I feel I started to take religion more seriously a couple of years ago but I just kept reading the Bible stories and found Christian websites which helped me feel closer to God! Also a little prayer every now and then helps for me too! 

Yeah it’s interesting stuff even if you aren’t religious there’s still a lot that is fascinating to learn about. Some things are not as well known as others, perhaps this is deliberate to control the narrative. 

So it literally means coming from the light. I hadn’t thought of the English word Lucifer coming from the Latin language, yet I knew that lumen means light = light. Interesting. 

You were made how god intended, do not worry about that. The fact you have faith is great, I wish I had more sometimes myself, it would be nice to rely on a greater power helping me a long the way.
