Tv show suggestions!

Hello everyone!

My university exams are near! I have to do a lot of studying, (not to mention having to be in a room with more than 100 other students, and trying to concentrate in there) and I'm already getting overwhelmed! So, I need a really good TV show to binge-watch which will take the pressure away! I don't care if it's new or old! I mostly like fantasy and historical series, but every suggestion would be useful! Slight smile

  • Hi. You should watch Death In Paradise. It's a murder-mystery TV series and has a good level of humour as well as seriousness to keep you enthralled. It's available on BBC Iplayer and is a good series to binge watch.Or there's The Simpsons - available on Disney Plus - I like binging this as episodes are only 20 or so mins long which means it's an easy watch. I struggle with my attention span when watching longer stuff.

Hope this helps and hope your exams go/went well Blush

  • I know this comes pretty late, but still…

I keep coming coming back to, that could kind of fit your preferences (except Modern Family):

    - Good Omens (the book is also great btw)

    - BBC’s Sherlock (it‘s a modern adaptation, but still great and very interesting to watch if you know Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s pieces)

    - Star Trek - Next Generation (not fantasy, but Sci-Fi and sometimes about a few historical topics)

    - Modern Family (it is a sitcom, so maybe not for you, but I just couldn‘t leave it out)

    - Anne with an E (adaptation of Anne of Green Gables and while not perfect, honestly still pretty good)

Now, that one is not a recommendation, but I wanted to list it nonetheless… I did watch Rings of Power and while I do partly enjoy the shots themselves in an aesthetic way, the pacing, action scenes, character portrayals as well as actual storylines are mostly trash. It goes against common Middle Earth knowledge and logic. Still kind of worth watching as a LoTR fan, but be prepared to rage about it.

  • I get stuck rewatching the same few shows too. I found that light comedies with predictable plots help me relax—nothing too noisy or serious, just something calm and familiar.

  • same here i have GCSE exams coming up in  fact iv'e got one this thursday I reccomend waching outnumbered and beyond paridise

  • Hushed This series must be really interesting! Thank you! I'm certainly going to watch it!

  • I thought of another fun fictional series you might like.

    Quantum Leap.

It's about a man who 'leaps' through time and becomes another person and has to fix something in their lives to leap again. He's trying to get back home to his own time but finds himself leaping from person to person, sometimes with hilarious results! He even leaps in to Elvis Presley in one episode (my fave ep - Memphis Melody).

Dean Stockwell is his best friend and a very funny character in it called Al. He appears as a hologram, you'll love his character.

Definitely worth a watch if you can.

  • I don’t think there’s anything in the Netflix programme that would spoil the game from menory. It’s more based on the books, well to some degree . I guess you’re talking about Witcher 3 game?

  • I haven't watched the Witcher because I haven't finished the game yet and I don't want any spoilers.

I've watched Star Wars, Vikings and Dracula (one of my favourites), but not Sandman and Taboo.

I just saw that Sandman is a DC hero! Cool! I'm totally going to watch it! Thank you! Blush

  • Have you seen the Witcher? It’s based on the  fantasy books. A lot of Star Wars stuff on Disney.. the last kingdom, Vikings, stranger things but guessed you’ve seen this? The sandman, Taboo and Dracula bbc drama

  • Netflix and Disney +

  • What streaming services do you have available?

  • You could try Boston Legal,

I will! Thank you! Slight smile

  • Miss Marple with Joan Hickson is amazing. Agatha Christie wrote to her in the 40s saying she should play her one day.

  • I like the Miss Marple when she was played by Joan Hickson.

You could try Boston Legal, its hilarious and such a shame it isn't better known I think you can get it on C4

  • Aww great! I am pleased. You are so welcome. Trust me, you won't regret reading or watching Poirot, the whole series is brillo from start to finish Smiley

  • Thank you very much for all your suggestions! I haven't read or watched anything from Agatha Christie. It's a shame, I know, I know! So that one is totally a winner! Relaxed

  • Some of my faves to watch that you might enjoy are

    • Charmed
    • Buffy the Vampire Slayer
    • Star Trek The Next Generation  (some history involved in this series at times)
    • Doctor Who
    • Agatha Christie’s Poirot (historic, fictional and funny in places)

I hope you enjoy some or all of these Blush
