Bloggers, Vloggers, Content creators and reviewers (with apologies to Lotus)

So I'm writing this (partly) because I feel a bit bad at not being able to participate in the film club organised by Lotus (whom the forum won't let me tag - as it likes to be difficult) but also because I find myself watching more and more factual information videos online created by these people who go off and find content that some of us may find interesting.

I say 'may' and clearly they do - because many of these amass many hundreds of thousands of followers, if not more.

There's all kinds of content creator - but being the traditional Autistic I am, in some ways, I thought I'd focus on the specific areas of travel, transport and food.

Food is a strange one.  After all - we all need it - but we are all so different when it comes to dietary, sensory & cultural requirements.   But I do find it interesting to watch these people as they head off around the UK and the world, sampling various cuisines  - in anything from Michelin starred restaurants to street food style selling vendors - whilst reviewing the product and giving you a glimpse of the surroundings too (and that to me gives inspiration for possible travel in future).

KALANI & SAV   or   GARY EATS   for example.    I don't know why these in particular.

Then the transport.   You've got people who focus on Trains.  Trams.  Buses.   Ferries.   Cruises.    Whatever your favoured means of transport, some are out there vlogging it.  Some are making it their business to visit every station, every port, airport, tram stop and review every aspect of transportation we have here in the UK, in Europe and even further afield.   I find it interesting, even though I'm well aware it might send others to sleep.

GLoves Trains    STEVE MARSH    SIMON WILSON       just some examples

So here's what I am doing when others might be settling down to watch a nice film.   I can't concentrate for 90 mins.   But I can do 20 mins if I don't have to actually look at the screen the whole time, and can do other things while listening.  It isn't ideal - but this is what ADHD and anxiety have reduced me to.

Happy viewing all  !!

  • I can relate to this. Watching a film is difficult, it’s hard to focus enough to enjoy an hour and a half long film, especially when by the end of it I can’t really remember what happened or who anybody was.

YouTube videos are the perfect length – and they can be interesting and a real learning curve, and my dose of seeing the outside world, and round the globe without fear of large crowds, heat and all the germs and ickies that exist outside the four walls of my palace ‘bedroom’.

Last year I watched a walk-aound tour of Turin in Italy. It was 40 mins long but I took break, and YouTube remembered where I was so I could return to it anytime I liked. I got to see the Italian pace of life as it were and the interesting architecture of their buildings.

It gave me serious The Italian Job vibes !!

And like you I enjoy watching the cuisine type videos. I like to see celebrities do eating challenges, there’s one where Charlie Puth is trying these foods and gagging on nearly everything Laughing

Oh and hippo & penguin videos too, of course!

I enjoy films but I can't focus or settle enough to enjoy a film properly. Thank god for YouTube !!

I know.  Like man vs food that used to be on the food network.   I think there's a FB page called 'Cattlemans Steakhouse' which has food challenges I saw recently.   Its really disgusting, but you find yourself having to watch.

  • Its really disgusting, but you find yourself having to watch.

Yes exactly, fun entertainment for the whole family Smile

I like Man vs Food as well. I like watching challenge videos, and people trying new things out like learning to ride a bike. I recently took up cycling again because of those types of videos.

  • I enjoy cycling. It's a good way of getting about, it's environment friendly and I can make a quick escape if town starts to get too busy, though I try to be out and about during quiet periods of the day Blush

I've never cycled by the sea but I imagine that is a nice experience.

I like trains and get to see them more often than not but I find them a little too busy for my liking.
