I accidentally deleted an online account

with My Heritage and now I seem unable to contact them to be able to retrieve it, their help pages are anything but helpful and and contact us dosen't seem to give you nay contact options.

Can anybody help, or will I just have to get my DNA done again with a different company?

Why do these companies seem to make it so hard to contact them?, Why the need for going round in circles? Is this some marketing gimmick, deliberate obfuscation or the enshitification of the internet?

  • I'm sorry you're having problems. I hate how difficult it is to easily contact any company, they don't make it easy do they.

If you follow this link you can contact them via their online contact box by submitting a 'ticket'. Once you submit one they will respond to you hopefully in a few days.

    https://www.myheritage.com/contact-myheritage/customer_support/delete_account/submit_ticket

You'll need to enter your email address, full name, phone number and your account ID. Fill in the text box underneath and explain what happened and hopefully they will be able to get back to you in a few days and get this sorted out.

    I hope this helps.

  • Thats one of the problems, I can't find my account ID, I know they do their best to make these things secure for obvious reasons, but when something goes wrong it seems almost impossible to get right again.

I wonder why these companies make contacting them so difficult? Every portal seems to be open when they want your money, and closed when theres a problem.

    O&U WTF?

  • It's OK, I know you were joking, and I do sometimes say things that will make you laugh

  • I think you've misunderstood.  Or one of us phrased something badly.

I know you aren't my Nan.  Or my Gran.

But you do continue to make me laugh (and I am fairly sure some of it is deliberate)

    If not...

We were just having a long and jokey-ish conversation that went in many directions.   It just so happened that it was on your thread....    (hangs head in shame etc etc)

A is just someone I clicked with instantly.  It doesn't happen often.

Wishing you a pleasant - electronics free - evening.
