Non voter

#Starmer #LabourParty It seems they are intent on doing all they can to make me a non voter. Their stance on welfare is my primary reason for believing that. Yes the Tories and Reform would be even worse, but I need more than just 'at least they're not as bad' to cast a future vote for Labour. I need to know they genuinely care about the disabled and/or vulnerable...That they're not going to punish them for the bad and irresponsible behaviour of those far more fortunate in life. Sadly the signs are far from good. Voting for a Labour party that regards bullying the disabled and/or vulnerable as an acceptable way of proving how competent, and strong, it is, doesn't appeal to me in the slightest.

  • Absolutely agree - it goes way beyond identity politics and it really all boils down to good v evil

  • A good post - thank you for sharing the article. I agree.

I also would like to see them raising the tax threshold for lower paid workers on basic rate tax, and reinstating the winter fuel allowance for all lower income pensioners, not just those on benefits - this could be done by giving it to those on lower council tax bands or those who do not pay a higher rate of tax.

If they did those things to help the vulnerable and poor, I would then vote for them.

  • I would like to see that too. The verbal threats to cut benefits is harmful to those who are truly disabled and too ill to work. It needs to stop.

  • INM

Whats you evidence for all this stuff you come out with, where do you get it from and why do you believe it?

  • I wonder how you would be treated and the husband you have previously said you would like to meet this year, by the regime that you depict wanting here:

the only solution is a Millitary dictatorship government (the most transparent form of government there is) with no one milltary leader taking overall power and having a permanent national state of emergency, permanent martial law via Millitary courts and permanent police state with armed police and armed milltary on our streets - a dedicated and all powerful armed religious milltary morality police must be established to enforce traditional Christian religious teachings by a show of overwhelming milltary force to ensure absolute compliance and actively prevent all dissent, with the sweeping legal powers to instruct all other bodies like councils, police and army to carry out certain actions

So what do you call the above if it's not far right?

How tolerant would you expect them to be of your s*xuality and lifestyle?

we don’t have a problem with the “far-right” (we never had, as there is no such thing)

    Thinking

  • https://www.bigissue.com/opinion/dwp-sickness-benefits-claimant-stigma-burden/   An excellent  article. If Labour steps back from an approach that will do more harm than good in the long run; then I'll happily vote for them. I need to know they care about those who are even worse off than I am . Those disabled and vulnerable who are still of working age. So far they're showing no signs of that. That they care enough about people like me and more so those worse off than me, to merit  getting our vote. If they can help get more disabled people into work by improving health care, be it  mental and/or physical, then that's something I can support. What I can not and will not support is raising the hurdle to jump over, in order to qualify as disabled enough not to work.

Labour has to be more than the party of those able to work. A party that acknowledges the genetic lottery of life. That rejects the Tory approach of lavishly praising those who have done well in that genetic lottery, and bad mouthing those who haven't. Such a party I'd have no hesitation in voting for.

  • This is why, at my age and my level of life experience in the real world, I utterly despise Labour and the left the most and they showed their fascist true colours during Covid - this is the problem with leftists and communists, that when they have lost the argument they resort to insults, threats and even force, which also proves why they must never be allowed into power, as we have seen with Starmer - we don’t have a problem with the “far-right” (we never had, as there is no such thing) but we do have a problem with the extreme, fascist, radical far-left that is hell-bent on destroying our society for their globalist deep state masters

  • No one is infallible.

It's not about being fallible. I have no problem with that, and will readily post proof of that fallibility . The problem is being accused of  fallibility and stupidity over something when no such thing occurred. You were quite happy to brand me as stupid, but didn't like it when accused of the same.

    Now about that fallibility.

    That's out of 800.

    Using Copilot

What does this indicate? Poor planning ability, poor non verbal memory, poor visual short term memory, poor spatial perception, poor hand eye coordination

These indicators suggest difficulties in several cognitive and motor skills:

Poor planning ability: Difficulty in organizing and executing tasks efficiently.

Poor non-verbal memory: Trouble remembering information that isn't language-based, like faces or patterns.

Poor visual short-term memory: Struggling to hold visual information for a short period.

Poor spatial perception: Challenges in understanding and remembering spatial relationships between objects.

Poor hand-eye coordination: Difficulty in coordinating visual input with hand movements.

These issues can impact daily activities and learning processes. Do you have any specific concerns or situations where these difficulties are noticeable?

    I was wondering about conditions/disorders
There are several conditions and disorders that could be associated with the difficulties you mentioned:

Dyspraxia (Developmental Coordination Disorder): This affects motor coordination and can impact planning, non-verbal memory, spatial perception, and hand-eye coordination.

Nonverbal Learning Disorder (NVLD): This neurological condition affects the ability to understand and process visual-spatial information, impacting tasks like drawing, writing, and motor skills.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD): Often co-occurring with dyspraxia, ADHD can affect planning, memory, and coordination.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD): Some individuals with ASD may have difficulties with non-verbal memory, spatial perception, and coordination.

  • Exactly right! And MPs shouldn’t be looking at their phones during PMQs, they should be paying attention to proceedings. Also, nobody seems able to deliver a persuasive speech or participate in a good debate without insulting and name calling.

  • I thought that one of the most telling things about why so little works is from what he said about anyone with any experience in a thing, seeming to be barred from working in that department and the way ministers are shuffled around so often that they barely get a grip on thier briefs before being moved to another department.

  • Really! I don’t understand what you are referring to.  But I agree we don’t always have politics … ehhhhmm!

  • you have little chance of convincing them to join you as Labour voters.

I would be more than happy to be given good reasons to vote Labour at the next local and general election.'At least they're better than' when it comes to welfare policy especially, but other areas too, isn't a good enough reason. If Labour fails to win the next general election it'll be because they failed to give voters, including myself, positive reasons to vote for them.

I support their position re farmers and re public schools. They should've handled things re winter fuel payments better. It's their intended plans re welfare  that are the barrier to my voting for them. If they can get more disabled people into being employed whilst not raising the hurdle needed to jump over to prove inability to work, I'd be supportive of that.

  • I used to listen to it regularly, from when it first started, and also sometimes the ‘Leading’ podcast. Lately, I just listen now and again.

  • I read Rory’s memoir ‘Politics on the Edge’ too. It’s understandable why some people don’t want a career in politics when you read about the stuff that went on at Westminster. It seems that there is no room for a centre right or centre left politician anymore.

  • I've watched and listened to several bits of their podcasts, but not a whole one.

  • I gave up on voting after the 2023 Council Election; here in Northern Ireland.

We don't have politics anymore, we have Cult Worship.

  • I don't listen to it as I have nothing to listen to stuff like that on, but if I did that would be one I'd be interested in listening too. I did read Rory Stewart's memoir from his time in parliament, it was really interesting, he's an interesting bloke, it was also good to read about the absurdities of how our government and parliament work. I'd recomend anyone interested in politics to read it.

I often wonder what the country would have been like if Rory Stewart had won the Tory leadership race, I think he could have been one of the best PM's we never had.

  • It was you that started with the abusive behaviour.
