texture is mos def a big factor. I have been vegetarian for so long I dont remember what meat tastes like. beyond burgers have a very simple ingredient list -as long as it's the one with avocado oil. I like the texture of.
This was my lunch and will be my tea/dinner/supper (cross off as suits your class/upbringing/age/predilection/wont).
It's home grown tomatoes fried with non-homegrown mushrooms and potatoes.
I added grated cheddar cheese (an essential ingredient to all food) and humous.
for me it certain foods. veggies like to touch. Cherry tomatos can touch anything. hot and cold separate. sometimes I will use lots of little dishes ala japanese style.
As you know I don't have a camera and what I eat would probably make you all run screaming anyway, I don't seperate out my food into things that can touch and things that can't. I tend to make a lot of bowl food, so bowls of chilli and rice, thai red or green curry and rice, spag bol, lots of different curry's on the same plate.
That looks really healthy and tasty Uhane!
For me I don’t care if food touches each other at all, as long as cold things are separate from hot things. Is this super common not to like food touching? My thing is more about texture, I can’t stand anything slimy at all so, for example, eggs have to be fully cooked, which I know is a culinary sin. Also, I don’t like meat. Even some fake meat products weird me out if they’re too much like the real thing.
I think there is a measure of variation in this rule among us. I do not enjoy food surprises (food prepared by others should ideally be as described ...no surprising garnishes or unexpectedly jumbled-up presentations, thank you).
However, if I am familiar with somewhere that can be acceptable if they are consistent (such Prawns Marie Rose over a Jacket Potato ... please hold the Butter and no Paprika garnish over the top, thank you).
However, if I have made the dish: I would want the protein on the plate nearest me (easier to control cutting up into bite size pieces) and I am likely to be more tolerant of mixed up food items (because there are no surprises as I know what is in e.g. my salad).
The same meal, plated up by someone else: I would prefer separated out foods where possible.
it's a kind of yeasty sweet bread from one of the bakeries here in Hawaii. very old Bakery.
yup. that's one of the Hawaiian bakeries here. I don't really eat wheat but it is very popular. Cpt. Cook the explorer and then the british influence brought the idea of a king to Hawaii. It's a very old bakery. Yummy for you!
Sunday lunch.
beyond burger in a square, green-beans tomato, basmati rice.
tnx CW. when I have a place to cook will do!
OMG - runic FH! so cool!
All I said was that I don't get it, not that I don't think it should be allowed! I've got a load of dietry issues too.
Uhane, you can get spelt flour and make your own bread either by hand or in a bread machine. I've done both, you just need a little less yeast with spelt than ordinary wheat flour, as it has less gluten and rises a bit differently. Supermarkets charge so much for anything but white sliced and a bread machine makes everything so easy, just measure out the iingredients press a coupl eof buttons and in 4 or 5 hours you've got a loaf where you know exactly whats gone into it.
Sold out! And on the official website. They must be really nice!
Now it’s not letting me send links so I’m trying this - click here?
Im not sure it’s actually Hawaiian food but that’s just the thing at my stores (and I know the question wasn’t replied to me)
What is a King's Hawaiian? It sounds like food fit for a king!
cool - food from my home!
I ate a ‘Kings Hawaiian’ original roll. That’s all, nothing special.
For some reason my phone doesn’t let me post pictures in the threads (only in PMs). My laptop lets me so I’ll have to wait for school next month
what did you have for lunch? Can we see?
dear YT, I am going there on Monday. I will take a picture of the interior for you. I can't abide many stores. But Costco i love. It is cavernous, well organized, no musak, everyone intent of the task at hand in an orderly manner. The aisles are really wide and the prices really reasonable.
Aw that’s cool. I’ve never actually been to Costco I want to try they’re donuts though apparently they are amazing.
