It's nearly Christmas and I've read a few things that most of us dislike about Christmas...loads of people in busy shops and towns...bright lights...loud music and for me the worst is the visiting relatives. I love all my relatives but at Christmas it's so much going on and so much to process I can't cope with them. There's so much happening at Christmas time it's a lot to process and deal with and it lasts such a long time. We're going Christmas shopping next weekend *gulp* so I've got to try and prepare myself for this.
But the point of this thread isn't to look at the negatives it's to look at the positives...the things we DO like about Christmas...
What do you like about Christmas?
I'm a big music fan and I love Christmas music, when it's played quietly OC. One of my favourite things is sitting by the Christmas tree, my earphones in, listening to Christmas music.
I also love to watch Christmas films. I like being in my bed, snuggled up under my duvet with my bears watching my fave Christmas films.
Other than that there's not really a lot I like about Christmas lololol
don,t feel sad on christmas its the best of the year you are never alone that time

Oh and when I say food and drink and mince pies, I mean the festive drinks like spiced apple cider, hot chocolate, etc.
I really love Christmas lights - I love to see all the outdoor lights on peoples houses and in the trees. And I like that my husband has time off work and we can be at home together. I love on Christmas Day that there’s no post, no phone calls, nowhere is open etc. - so you know you’ll be left alone by the world! I also enjoy all the nice food and drink. I like to go for walks in the countryside when it’s frosty and cold.
I love Christmas. I love the general feel that comes with it, that atmosphere that only comes this time of year. If like an electricity that soars through my family.
My mum is severely mentally ill but even at Christmas she perks up, bless her.
The Christmas music is refreshing and fun, I have a few Christmas records that I enjoy playing. I like Christmas shopping, online. I found this brilliant Love Actually Christmas card...
If you've seen the movie and remember the this is so much more than a bag scene then you'll get the humour here
Haha classic.
My favourite part of Christmas is sitting with my family on Christmas Eve. We spend time with each other, tell stories and have a damn good time.
I'm looking forward to Christmas. Naturally I try not to go out shopping this time of year as it's like an apocalypse had struck.
Cave Troll.
It seems like he was a lovely man. I might get one of his books next month. Cheer myself up a bit.
I'm with you on the turkey sandwiches, possibly better than the original roast dinner!
I find bright lights challenging too but like the pretty Christmas ones and agree that the flashing ones are to be avoided. One of our neighbours put up some of those super bright white ones all over their house a few years ago and had them on random flash which was really disturbing.
I did... Well, indirectly, as I made reference to 'The Snowman'.
We're walking in the air...
Oh man. I might actually get some DVD's of Christmas films now. Has anyone mentioned Raymond Briggs in this thread yet?
Dudley Moore was absolutely brilliant in that film. I think the fact that he was in it was part of the appeal.
It's a wonderful film for a child. Santa is magic in it. Dudley Moore is in it too.
I seem to remember my dad taking me and some friends to watch 'Santa Claus The Movie' (1985) for my birthday.
Cool!
It's been a long time since I last wore a Christmas hat, but when one of my aunts hosted a Christmas Day family gathering, we would all wear antler headbands.
In response to your question, yes I have Christmas-themed diamond paintings. The company I tend to buy my kits from also sells Christmas greeting cards, along with frames to display them in. I dare say that at some point I will share some photos of my current collection.
Christmas pyjamas are one of my fave things as well...should have added that to my own list. I also love the Christmas jumpers... I have one with a reindeer on it and its nose lights up red lolol
I like wearing Christmas hats too though they do mess up my hair...
Do you have any Christmas themed diamond paintings is that a thing? Sporadic Sparkly I would happily hang one in my room at Christmas time.
My Grandma brought me up to believe in God. Atheism is a belief I acquired as an adult. So. I'm torn.
Michael Caine as old Scrooge. I'm going to try and catch it again this year.
Reading that BBC news article reminded me of a house about a mile or so away from me. At Christmas, every window in the house would have some kind of rapid flashing illumination, along with rapid flashing lights on the exterior of the house. Through the living room window, I could just about make out a Christmas tree with flashing lights, and I think they even had strings of lights on the ceiling too.
Whenever I passed the house at night, I had to look away. Anything longer than a brief cursory glance would be enough to cause me to feel nauseous.
The house was situated on a corner by a roundabout, on one of the main routes to a huge out-of-town shopping center. I can remember people complaining about all the flashing lights and how they were a distraction to motorists.
Aw that's kinda cute tho.
