MMR

I've read so much about the mmr jab and one man was concerned it was infact the mmr jab that caused autism who believes this is true my father believes it 100% my son was talking and developing correctly until he had the mmr jab. What does everyone else think about this ?

  • Many researchers have a tough time putting forward challenging new theories, so it is not unheard of for someone to be discredited by the opposition who is later found to be right.

    However in this case the General Medical Council raised worrying evidence of how he conducted his research including what was termed abuse of developmentally challenged children.

    In the circumstances it is unfortunate to have given him any publicity space here. When the evidence against a piece of research is so strong and shocking, he really has to go away and do something to vindicate himself if he can, but publicity seeking is not the way forward. If he has a case in defence he should stay quiet until it is unchallengeable.

  • Mr (I now refuse to call him 'Dr' because I don't believe he is deserving of such a title) Wakefield is hardly the source one should go to if one wants an unbiased opinion!

    Of course he says that the Measles epidemic in Wales was the fault of the British Governement - it is in his financial interest to do so!

  • For information - and to enable a more informed decision (always wise to keep an open mind...so much is withheld from the public):

    UK Measles Outbreaks

    Statement from Dr. Andrew Wakefield

    British Government is entirely culpable for measles outbreak

    In the wake of further media distortion, misrepresentation, and ignorance in relation to the measles outbreak in Wales, it is important to clarify some key facts.

    Dr. Andrew Wakefield suit headshotIn 1998, following an analysis of all published pre-licensing studies of MMR vaccine safety I recommended the use of single measles vaccine in preference to MMR. This remains my position.

    At that time, in contrast with the false assertions of many commentators, including Richard Horton, Editor of the Lancet, and vaccine millionaire Paul Offit, the single vaccines were licensed in the UK and freely available to the British public.

    While MMR vaccination uptake fell from February 1998, there was a reciprocal increase in the uptake of the single vaccines – a fact that is never acknowledged in the press. Vaccination clinics administered many thousands of doses of measles vaccine and children were “protected.”

    Six months later, in September 1998, the British Government withdrew the importation license for the single vaccines, effectively blocking this option for parents.

    Measles cases in the UK rose when the government withdrew the importation license for the single measles vaccine leaving concerned parents with no choice.

    When I demanded to know why, if the government’s principal concern was to protect children from measles, it would prevent parents with genuine safety concerns over MMR from protecting their children, Elizabeth Miller of the Health Protection Agency responded, “…if we allowed parents the choice of single measles vaccines it would destroy our MMR program.” The government’s concern appeared to be to protect the MMR program over and above the protection of children.

    30 Years of Secret Official Transcripts Show UK Government Experts Cover Up Vaccine Hazards To Sell More Vaccines And Harm Your Kids

    "An extraordinary new paper published by a courageous doctor and investigative medical researcher has dug the dirt on 30 years of secret official transcripts of meetings of UK government vaccine committees and the supposedly independent medical “experts”sitting on them with their drug industry connections.

    If you want to get an idea of who is responsible for your child’s condition resulting from a vaccine adverse reaction then this is the paper to read. What you have to ask yourself is if the people on these committees are honest and honourable and acting in the best interests of British children, how is it this has been going on for at least 30 years?

    This is what everyone has always known but could never prove before now. Pass this information on to others so they can see what goes on in Government health committees behind locked doors.

    We quote here from the author’s summary and the paper:

    Deliberately concealing information from parents for the sole purpose of getting them to comply with an “official” vaccination schedule could be considered as a form of ethical violation or misconduct. Official documents obtained from the UK Department of Health (DH) and the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) reveal that the British health authorities have been engaging in such practice for the last 30 years, apparently for the sole purpose of protecting the national vaccination program.

    The 45 page paper with detailed evidence can be downloaded here: The vaccination policy and the Code of Practice of the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI): are they at odds? Lucija Tomljenovic, Neural Dynamics Research Group, Dept. of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada.  It was presented at and forms part of the proceedings of The 2011 BSEM Scientific Conference now published online here: The Health Hazards of Disease Prevention BSEM Scientific Conference, March 2011."

    There are other papers also found at that link which you will find an excellent read.

     I recommend you read the whole document:

    "Assertions

    In summary, the transcripts of the JCVI/DH meetings from the period from 1983 to 2010 appear to show that:

    1) Instead of reacting appropriately by re-examining existing vaccination policies when safety concerns over specific vaccines were identified by their own investigations, the JCVI either

    a) took no action, b) skewed or selectively removed unfavourable safety data from public reports and c) made intensive efforts to reassure both the public and the authorities in the safety of respective vaccines;

    2) Significantly restricted contraindication to vaccination criteria in order to increase vaccination rates despite outstanding and unresolved safety issues;

    3) On multiple occasions requested from vaccine manufacturers to make specific amendments to their data sheets, when these were in conflict with JCVI’s official advices on immunisations;

    4) Persistently relied on methodologically dubious studies, while dismissing independent research, to promote vaccine policies;

    5) Persistently and categorically downplayed safety concerns while over-inflating vaccine benefits;

    6) Promoted and elaborated a plan for introducing new vaccines ofquestionable efficacy and safety into the routine paediatric schedule, on the assumption that the licenses would eventually be granted;

    7) Actively discouraged research on vaccine safety issues;

    8) Deliberately took advantage of parents’ trust and lack of relevant knowledge on vaccinations in order to promote a scientifically unsupported immunisation program which could put certain children at risk of severe long-term neurological damage;

    Notably, all of these actions appear to violate the JCVI’s own Code of Practice (http://www.dh.gov.uk/prod_consum_dh/groups/dh_digitalassets/@dh/@ab/documents/digitalasset/dh_115363.pdf).

    Instead of reacting appropriately by re-examining existing vaccination policies
    when safety concerns over specific vaccines were identified by their own investigations, the JCVI either a) took no action, b) skewed or selectively removed unfavourable safety data from public reports and/or c) made intensive efforts to reassure both the public and the authorities in the safety of respective vaccines.

    As early as 1981, the JCVI had substantial documentation which associated the measles vaccine with serious adverse reactions including death and long-term adverse neurological outcomes. At the JCVI meeting held on 9th April 1981 (http://www.dh.gov.uk/ab/DH_095169), in discussing a paper that summarised all the reports of adverse reactions to the CSM, the following was noted:

    (5.b.) Adverse Reactions to measles vaccine

    “All reports since 1970 of encephalitis, encephalopathy or sudden death shortly after vaccination had been reviewed; 60 patients were involved of whom 8 had died, 36 had made an apparent complete recovery and 16 were left with permanent sequelae. The high proportion of deaths and patients with sequelae was surprising in comparison with the findings of the NCES [National Childhood Encephalopathy Study].”(5.b. Adverse Reactions to
    measles vaccine)

    By 1983, the JCVI appeared to have had more evidence that the measles vaccine could cause encephalitis associated with “severe handicap” in a subset of vulnerable children. At the JCVI meeting on 17th of June 1983 (http://www.dh.gov.uk/ab/JCVI/DH_120115), the Committee on Safety of Medicines (CSM) received 66 reports of suspected adverse reactions
    to measles vaccines over the period January 1982 to April 1983. According to the transcript of the meeting:

    ...."

    For those that don't know;

    sequelae, Latin sequela, from sequi ("follow") is a pathological condition resulting from a diseaseinjury, or other trauma. Typically, a sequela is a chronic condition that is a complication of an acute condition that begins during that acute condition.

    http://www.ageofautism.com/2012/11/wanted-by-the-feds-poul-thorsen-who-helped-pull-off-cdc-vaccine-autism-heist.html

    The lead author of a key study used by EU and USA health bodies as evidence mercury in vaccines does not cause autism has vanished after it emerged that he fraudulently claimed 10 million crowns in funds from his university in Denmark.

    According to a statement by the CDC, the researcher is Dr Poul Thorsen, who was also employed by Emory University, Atlanta, without the knowlege of his university, according to the Danish media.

    Police, who were called in to investigate by the university after they found a 10-million crown hole in their budget, believe the researcher is in the USA, living and working in Atlanta.

    The scientist has worked on a multi-phase research project on the cause of autism that has been received about 80 million crowns in funding from the CDC, headquartered in Atlanta, since 2002. Poul Thorsen along with Keersten Madsen Meldgaard was the author of a study published in 2002 that used data from Danish children to show that there was no link between mercury in vaccines and autism.

    The data in the study called Population-Based Study of Measles, Mumps, and Rubella Vaccination and Autism and published in the New England Journal of Medicine appears to show that autism rates went up after mercury was removed from vaccines, and was used in many subsequent studies justifying the use of mercury.

    However, the study has come under criticism for evidence that data has been manipulated to bolster the pro vaccine cause.

    http://www.whale.to/a/branell.html

    The close links and email communication between Kristeen Madsen and CDC researcher Dr. Diane Simpson have come be fiercely criticised for appearing to show that Madsen and Simpson looked for data to suit their theory.

    http://www.putchildrenfirst.org/chapter5.html

    The revelation that a key author of key pro thiomersal study has apparently vanished over a case fraud involving the CDC funds is sure to reignite the dispute about the validity of these studies and the dangers of thiomersal.

    The CDC, an agency belonging to the US Department of Health and Human Services, has been accused of hiding the relationship between threefold growth of vaccinations for US children in the 1990s and the epidemic of autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders that began at exactly the same time.

    Key pro-vaccine studies in The Journal of the American Medical Association, The American Journal of Preventative Medicine and the American Medical Association appearing to show no link between autism and mercury have also been based on the Danish data.

    Also, the Danish data was used by a team from the Centers for Disease Control working with colleagues at the University of Aarhaus to link autism to difficult birth and a family history of mental illness in a study from 2005.

    The validity of all these studies will also now be called into question.

    The fraud involving 10 million crowns raises the issue of whether money flowing to the Danish researcher from the CDC was a reward for manipulating study results.

    Swine flu vaccines with thiomersal were administered to millions of people, including babies and children, this autumn as part of the CDC and WHO pandemic management plans in spite of a lack of clinical data.

    Two reports from the Danish media translated by Ulla Danielson:

    SWINDLE FOR MILLIONS AT AARHUS UNIVERSITY

    By Maja Nielsen and Morten Ravn, Aarhus stiftstidende, Wednesday February 10, 2010

    A big research project has resulted in a deficit of 10 million crowns in the budget of Aarhus university.

    Police are investigating the case as fraud while the university has cut its links to the chief-investigator from Aarhus, writes Danish Daily Aarhus Stiftstidende.

    The Aarhus-based scientist left his job at the medical health faculty in March last year. After a short period, the university began to suspect something was radically wrong. The suspicion increased.

    Accordingly the university in collaboration with Board of Science and Innovation reported the case to the police of Eastern Jylland.

    Among other things the now disputed research project maps out the cause of autism. Since 2002, the project has received more than 80 millions crowns from the American board of health,the CDC.

    The University of Aarhus is in the process of issuing a declaration to a lot of institutions about the tangled case.

    In this communication the director of the university, Joergen Joergensen, underlines that the aarhus-scientist no longer is connected with the university.

    Researcher employed in more than one place

    “At the same time it has become clear that the resigned leader of the research project has been employed doubly.

    Without the university’s knowledge, he has been a payed employee at the University of Emory in the USA while he was still employed in aarhus.

    “Of course that is not acceptable,” says head of press for the rector at the university, Anders Corell, to Aarhus Stiftstidende.

    He does not want to say anything about the amount of money the University is missing. Neither will Anders Corell comment on the information provided to the newspaper talking about a fraud involving 10 million crowns.

    Police inspector Boerge Frandsen from Eastern Jylland’s police confirms, that there is a report. The police has started to investigate the case.

    ”Yes, it is about fraud”, the police inspector says to Aarhus Stiftstidende.

    He is not able to confirm or deny size of the amount of money or the consequences.

    But so far the disputed chief investigator has not been charged.

    On the move in the USA

    The newspaper has learnd that the investigations are hampered because it has been very difficult to find the key figure in the case.

    Aarhus Stiftstidende has also unsuccessfully tried to get a comment from the aarhus-based scientist, who has his private address in hoejbjerg (outside Aarhus).

    After he left the medical health faculty in Aarhus he participated, among other things, at a conference in italy.

    On that event his papers erroneously said that he was employed by the University of Aarhus.

    Aarhus Stiftstidende has spoken to several sources, who say that the scientist, who has a PhD, is at the moment is on the move in USA. They describe him as a Stein Bagger type (a Danish financial fraud) who is eminently clever at raising money from funds.

    “He can open the doors to the great money tanks. But all projects all the time had to grow bigger and bigger. He succeeded in raising a huge amount of dollars. Rules however was something that existed for the sake of others – not for him,” it has been said, sounding characteristic.

  • Two studies, one in Japan, and one, if I recall correctly, in Denmark, prove, beyond any reasonable level of doubt, that the MMR jab does not cause Autism.

    If I remember the details correctly, the study in Japan compared the incidence rate before, during, and after the MMR jab was given to a population, and though the incidence rate increased whilst the jab was being given it continued to rise after they stopped giving it!

    And, the Denmark study, if my memory is correct, compared the incidence rate between two different populations - one that got the jab, and one that didn't - and there was no significant difference in the incidence rate in the two populations!

  • Actually that is funny in itself isn't it.  As my girls are both on the spectrum, you can imagine some of the hilarious conversations that go on in our house.  In-between the failing to understand humour and literal interpretation it's like a farce!  It's almost like different foreigners trying to understand each other sometimes.

  • quote "You've Been Framed...and of course will always find my own random, ridiculous things to laugh at that other people don't find funny".. ,maybe that previous joke was one of those moments for me. Laughing, it died a death for others ...(get it )Wink. Or are we playing an aspie miss the joke game of tennis. Laughing

  • You're welcome.

    My brain got in a panic trying to understand your joke.  I read it and re-read it, and I think I maybe sort of half got it in the end. Embarassed

    Simple humour is the easiest for me (don't tell me that was simple humour or I will be double-embarrassed!EmbarassedEmbarassed).  I love schoolboy humour, You've Been Framed...and of course will always find my own random, ridiculous things to laugh at that other people don't find funny!

    Well, I haven't had my morning coffee yet...that's my excuse! Money Mouth

  • thank Intense,, here is another one Laughing

    JOKE: Death says to a person "do you wish to die now ? or later on ? ,,.". the person replies "that is not much of a choice !" Death replies "stop complaining it is not death defying to me" Undecided Person replies "one day death !, I am going to kill you !"

    Thats a very morbid autie thought...  Tongue Out

  • If you read medical science you will find that scientists talk about second and third generation effect of vaccines, simple treating any disease by vaccines prevents the disease on that generation but causes a higher risk of development of other diseases in the off-spring or even the person with the vaccine when older.

    So the message from the scientists is.. you can not win against nature, you get above the curve line for a small time period, but the cure actually cause further disease down the generations by DNA weakening.. amazing nature. Scientists are actually saying it would be better if people just naturally died it would make future generations healthier as the DNA links/signatures would not be messed up by vaccines. If you think about it,, plague has killed a thousand times more people than wars. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plague_(disease)

    So my muse,, Autism may be a condition caused by vaccines used over a hundred years ago and now we are just paying the DNA signature cost just now. So say the polio vaccine may have caused autism, but NOT DIRECTLY, it is an indirect cause and effect, hence medical scientists scratch there heads, but going by this thinking ,, they maybe know.. what it was. MAYBE even Penicillin especially as the american got the most of this during the wars.

    This is a post just to indicate how difficult the question of vaccines and anti-biotics have on the disease and dna structure, short and long-term on the human body.

  • Hi - I read somewhere quite a long time ago now that they like to give them together because it's all done in 1 go and the child is then protected.  It's probably cheaper as well.   Also some parents may not always return to complete the coverage.  I also read + I'm not expert, that "experts" think the body can easily cope with the triple vaccine as it has to deal with all sorts of bugs on a daily basis anyway.

  • The reason MMR gets blamed for autism, is because its given, when social and communication and language development really begins to show and when these things are delayed because of autism .MMR is something to blame MMR  is given at 1 year and then a booster before start of school, with the other vaccines, like tetnus, polio etc. My son has autism, because he inherited it from genes.not the MMR.

  • I only recently found out is only had one of the two mmr you are supposed to have when I was young and I've got aspergers. I don't think there is a link. I have now had the other injection without a doubt!

  • I  second this.

    Also, measles can leave a child brain damaged, and if you believe that MMR will cause autism, do you also believe that measles itself could trigger autism? In my mind the latter seems far more likely, but it is indisputable that measles can cause epilepsy, deafness, brain damage etc. No link between autism and the MMR has so far been found, and while Science can never be dogmatic about anything, the Scientific method carries the most weight.

    In the end you  weigh up the risks (nothing is risk free). Vaccines are very safe for the vast majority of children, but far more children (and adults) are disabled by measles than they are from vaccination.

  • Hi - in the end people will believe what they want to, regardless of scientific evidence which should outweigh belief.  In our society people "have a right" to believe whatever they want.  That isn't meant to be derogatory in any way but belief is purely belief, full stop.  My son showed signs of autism from a few weeks old, mmr didn't exist when he had his jabs, so I know it didn't cause his autism.  I read recently that a parasite(?) in cats can trigger off autism?  We had a cat for a number of years before he was born + it lived a number of yrs afterwards.  Was it the cat?  In the 80s psychs of various descriptions blamed autism on "refrigerator mothers".  That is now discredited + not before time.  As I understand it children can develop as expected + then become autistic whilst still very young.  This can coincide with the mmr jab.  We look for an answer.  On the other hand no-one is completely sure about exactly what causes a person to be autistic, apart from there being a genetic component.  They suspect other environmental factors + research is ongoing.  Measles can kill, leave a child deaf.  It's a horrible, dangerous illness.  Many younger people have never witnessed measles and the havoc it can cause so they seriously consider refusing the mmr.  Mumps can also be horrible, especially for older children.  Rubella can cause all sorts of defects in a foetus.  In the end, we believe what we want to believe, hopefully taking into account up to date scientific evidence, but don't underestimate measles, mumps and rubella as illnesses.
