  • Many researchers have a tough time putting forward challenging new theories, so it is not unheard of for someone to be discredited by the opposition who is later found to be right.

However in this case the General Medical Council raised worrying evidence of how he conducted his research including what was termed abuse of developmentally challenged children.

In the circumstances it is unfortunate to have given him any publicity space here. When the evidence against a piece of research is so strong and shocking, he really has to go away and do something to vindicate himself if he can, but publicity seeking is not the way forward. If he has a case in defence he should stay quiet until it is unchallengeable.
