It is so cold here today- minus all day, that I have not gone for a walk. However I noticed something interesting in the garden. I hadn't realised how many cobwebs there were, but they are on view today and fascinating as covered in frost.
How are others finding the cold?
I only go out in the cold only if I have to
Weather Warning!
Onesies at Tesco!
I hope you managed to get your milk ok :)
I hate going out in the cold.
I'm sorry you had that xx
I had that in hospital when I was 9, absolutely horrible to experience.
Cosy
That's why we must treasure them, and reinforce those memories by creating new links to them.
You get it too. Longing and sadness because of losing something forever well concealed, so elusive only someone who experienced similar would notice behind all those 'happy' words. Though my version of a poem would have adults replaced with grandad and nature.
Roy Your photograph is making me feel most envious. Although I am thankful to live in a home with central heating, looking at a radiator doesn't have quite the same effect as a real fire. Also, watching the way dogs like to take up residence in front of a fire just makes it even more of a relaxing experience in my opinion.
Ditto what @Luna said.
I remember some things you have said about your upbringing so the expression 'happy moments' has a real significance for you I think.
I once referred to any time I was able to spend with my dad alone (my mum didn't like him being alone with anyone else) as 'pearls on a necklace'.
There's a Philip Larkin poem where a particular line resonates with me:
'I ... feel like a child, who comes on a scene of adults reconciling, and can understand nothing but the unusual laughter, and starts to be happy'.
I learnt that when I was living at home, and I felt it quite deeply.
There weren't many moments though of 'adults reconciling'.
No. He just aired them. The tread is good enough.
It's only this cold once in a blue moon; in this country. Winter Tyres are only required if you live around the mountains.
I have a Queen's Park accross the road, trees covered in snow remind me of happy momemnts in my childhood
Mariusz said:Timing was perfect as it was snowing heavily, I got to enjoy a nice walk watching everything turning white. It feels like being Alice every time. Welcome to the Wonderland where snowflakes can roam free, undisturbed, shivering and huddling to walls people getting out of the way like never before.
I am jealous.
I adore snow and we haven't had any.
I think you live in Brighton so are close to where I live but we seem to be the only area of the country that hasn't had any
The other nice thing about living on the coast is seeing the beach white.
It's quite a few years since I've experienced that, probably when I lived in Portsmouth.
Cold, icy, bright weather is by far my favourite
It NEVER snowed, here, but the roads are like a bottle.
I was wiser, this afternoon, and boiled water in the kettle; to defrost the windscreen, and driver's side's screen.
My son popped out this morning and said even though all the frost has gone, it's still biting cold outside. However, I'm aware some parts of the country are having it a lot worse today than where I live.
I'm in glasgow newton mearns yeah same hope it snows more. I'm at home sick . I love it i'm supposed to be doing my exam today but i didn't go so yeah . but it's ok
Need to get fresh milk after coffee. Look in a charity shop on my way home.
A few years ago had norovirus and thrown up in a bin. Very unusual for me.
I haven't really noticed the cold until now because I have had food poisoning over the weekend and I had my head down the toilet, throwing up.
Now that I'm better I am starting to notice other things like the cold. Today I will have to brave the cold and slippery pavements to go shopping, I'm out of fresh milk. I haven't been out since Friday morning.
Lol that made me laugh so much
The snow hasn't melted here, it looks like we've had more over night. I'd best wrap up warm and go steady when I go out later on.
That looks so warm and cosy, just what's needed on a cold winters day :)
