Seems like you got the result you needed. Hopefully this will help you make sense of your life and help you moving forward. I've read that it can be a roller coaster of emotions when a diagnosis does come, just be prepared for that. Fingers crossed you ride out any dips and get to the top of the roller coaster feeling more assured and validated in your identity. Anyway, hope that made sense... If you ever want to chat feel free. 

You must be very relieved. Pleased to hear you got the result you’d hoped for and realised would make more sense of everything for you. Like Kate says, it’s everything and it’s nothing (the formal diagnosis) - that’s so well put! I personally needed that validation too, as I can be so unsure of myself. But confidence in self diagnosis (in others) is understandable too. Nobody ends up here without good reason.

UPDATE 

First feedback session was to tell me I AM getting an ASD diagnosis -

My report is still being complied and will be sent to me upon completion -

We will then schedule the second feedback meeting where I can ask any questions I want to and be given resources etc

EEK my Gp thought autism too so I'm not sure what the next steps would be if its not

Nothing. If you need diagnosis for something else I think your GP will be your next port of call.

You will get a written report of your diagnosis and it'll be noted on your medical files. You'll probably get a booklet about local services for autistic people 99% of which won't be useful or relevant because they're aimed at children or the severally intellectually disabled. It's unlikely you'll be referred to any medical care / diagnosis.

Thank you! I think I'm autistic and I've read if you're AFAB and have done research and come to that conclusion you likely are  I just like to overthink .. 

Everything gets blamed on my anxiety & depression (which we think is actually the result of undiagnosed autism but anyway) so i think I'm scared ill get fobbed off again

You are the same person whatever result you get from this assessment. I’m going through the process now (have filled out the forms. Had one video interview - and the main assessment is this summer. I’ve thought the same -  ‘what if they say I’m NOT autistic’ - but to be honest I know that I am. It’s not rocket science - you can find all the info online about the criteria. My son got  a diagnosis of autism about 10 years ago and frankly I know autism, I’ve read enough and experienced enough to know that I’m autistic. I’m going for diagnosis just in case I need reasonable adjustments made when I’m older and needing support in any way (such as healthcare). I have mixed feelings about the whole thing though. 

having a diagnosis is everything and it’s nothing. 

in terms of support if you have a diagnosis as an adult  - there isn’t really any! 

Hi jadebug. Hopefully you get the answers you need soon. I wouldn't worry to much about messing up the assessment, I would guess there is no right or wrong way to perform. 

The worries you have are normal, I have only just been referred by GP for assessment. I too am wondering what if I'm not autistic? .... Does that mean I'm just weird... Un likeable...ect. 

Whatever the outcome , ust take your time to process it. Good luck!
