Hey I thought it would be interesting to know what we all like to buy and collect. I like to buy books, I own lots of Agatha Christie books and loads of lego minifigures which I love to buy and collect. I've also began collecting money, my mum used to collect vintage banknotes, she had an album which is now mine and in it there's money from the 1920s. Such lovely things. I've also began collecting records.
What do you all like to collect?
Hi you're new I believe,
so welcome to this Forum :)
Books: fiction, history, history of science and biography. African wood-carvings (esp. Makonde). Antiquities, mostly pottery (Roman, Greek, Egyptian). Antique swords and daggers. The carvings derive from a general interest in art, most of the others from interest in specific historical periods and subjects.
what restarted you ?
Ive started this week to collect Panini Euro 2020 stickers for this years tournamnet. Is anyone else on here collecting them. I am 46 and havnt collected football stickers since I was at school.
Fossils, Japanese and Chinese enamels, art, buttons, fabric and bones.
Books - I'm an avid reader, and I'll get obsessive about certain topics and want to read about it as much as possible. Surface more than depth though. I've still not got round to reading Oliver Cromwell's speeches yet (which seemed like a good purchase at the time).z library and bookfi alternative best for Books.
PC Games - I've never quite shaken off my retro-gaming fix and I've a tendency to get stuck on a particular genre and end up buying endless variations of the same type of game to try and evaluate the best experience (the last obsession was 4x fantasy games which I think I've just about got out of my system). I've got to the point now though where my rig just isn't up for the newer stuff - which probably isn't a bad thing.
Ideas. I subscribe endlessly to newsletters on just about anything. I'm due another cull soon - generally I'll go to a talk or conference of some description, get interested in all the speakers and organisations there and just randomly sign up to stuff so I don't miss out. Of course I've never read most of it - I just don't have the time.... but best to be signed up.... just in case....
I'm not a collector, as such, unless you count obsessions/ interests. I seem to amass interests which then become obsessions for a while. During the obsession period I buy everything I need for that obsession, just can't help myself. An ex-partner would get very annoyed with me when I did this (I once bought a set of golf clubs, shoes, etc, after just one visit to the golf range!). At the moment it's art supplies for my art, though this is a long standing interest that goes through repeated obsessive phases, now being one of them! I do have an awful lot of tools though, I love tools! Hand and electric. I'm a DIY and woodworking nut. Once I've got my shed built in my garden I'll be getting a wood lathe.... yet more tools to buy then! Lol!
Defiantly everyone have their own choices, I feel happy to buy new cars and car gadgets like bass speakers. Everything that make my car more beautiful so, if you want to buy new car or car components visit here: groomyourcar.info/
For some reason I specifically like Green pencils. I don't mean Green colour crayons, I mean normal pencils that are green and black rather than yellow and black but I don't know why.
they are very cool
yes someone came and took the lot in vans
Stationery
That is quite a cool collection though. I love seeing unusual patterned toilet paper.
I knit too Dawn!!! Are we friends on Instagram without knowing it?
Jays are also the bestest birds. LOL
I'd never collect anything to do with wildlife that can cause harm. Hence why it's strictly feathers that have moulted for me, and even then only very rarely.
This is a bad one especially with curlew eggs since they're endangered I believe which makes it worse.
Some collections are harmful. Such as wild eggs. See this recent BBC report. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-56860001.amp
I just don't understand why people do it. I wonder if this guy was autistic.
they sound pretty beautiful
Any Jay feathers I can find when they moult. I then treat the feathers to kill any mites and keep them in envelopes labelled with the place I found them. My preferred feathers to find are the blue primary feathers. I say collect, I only have two such feathers as finding such things from moulting jays is a rarity and I'd never harm any Jay to add feathers to my 'collection.'
I don't so much have things I collect although I would like too I kind of stop myself because I need my money for other things but I do have a bit a problem with throwing things away I like to keep all of my shoe boxes when ever I have bought shoes. Thinking about it I am lucky enough to have family that likes to go on family holidays a lot and I always always have to buy some kind of traditional thing from that country.
