# Daily Updates #

just a space for people can say what they have been doing today so we can keep up and in touch

  • Dammit.

I'm avoiding the Funeral of Prince Philip like the plague.

  • accidentally hit my thumb with an axe when creating kindling. Completed this job 1000s of times. Anyway I had to go to A&E (Antrim area hospital ).  The slash, I cut was stitched and my broken thumb bone now has a splint.   Have to go back tomorrow to another hospital to see the plastic surgeons.

  • End of another week. Looking forward to the weekend.

It's starting to dawn on me just how evasive people are. In my new role there's a lot more liaising with other folk internally. Latest data ask which was sent I pinged back (with a far better source/alternative) because the question they were looking to answer wouldn't be fully covered by what we could provide. No response to my response but I've heard there have been rumblings elsewhere about how to get the work done by us. Figured out this isn't a "what's the best way to get the job done" scenario, but a "why am I not getting what I want?" situation - even if the thing which is wanted, isn't the thing which is needed.

I've also noticed I need to get out of the automatic "why has X done Y?" response as it immediately drives up my stress levels and puts me in the wrong (snowballing) frame of mind. My observation that (mainly confused) people working in organisations is naturally chaotic has really been put to the test this week. Good opportunity to develop self-management skills though and I've picked up where I've not handled things quite as well as I could have done.

The gossip though.... strewth the gossip! Sometimes I really miss solitary working.

(also reading some retellings of Norse mythology by Neil Gaiman - really enjoying that)

  • I may settle for a different configuration - as there's stock around, If I go up though it tanks my budget. Anything less and I may as well stick with what I have now.

  • I viewed the bungalow for sale this afternoon. It turns out, the guy who used to own the place was in my year at Primary School, and his Dad is a neighbour of my Uncle. The Bloke who owned the bungalow has a wife, but no kids. I'm now trying to get the Estate Agent who sold my land and home to contact the Agent who's dealing with this bungalow to say that a sale for a significant amount has been agreed in principle. (It's just the legal Red Tape to sort out)

My Solicitor will be speaking with my brother and me at half two next Tuesday to discuss the Probate for my Nan and my Mum. The Probate for our Granddad has been granted. It's about keeping up the pressure.

Next Friday, the Barbers will reopen in Northern Ireland. St. George's Day, as well. I have booked a haircut and shave for 11 am then.

Also, I may be entitled to the Troubles Pension. I put my name down with WAVE in Omagh for expressing interest. Again, it's income.

  • there is a shortage in chips for everything at moment  so PCS and laptops are taking weeks to get

  • Tired. Frowning2

I've decided to get a new PC after I managed to damage the screen on my old all-in-one. It's not unusable - just enough to be an annoyance. There's a shortage of the one I want everywhere because of lack of stock so patience is required (as I'm so knackered at the moment that shouldn't be too difficult).

A similar story to when I got my last one. Why is it the specific thing I'm after vanishes off the planet as soon as I start looking for it?

  • Also, I joined a prayer group on Zoom - for the first time today - and I knew some of them from the Café I used to attend.

  • I had a Marathon Sleep last night, and a day of little activity today.

I got a new Piggy Bank at the Credit Union - the other one broke yesterday evening, while I pulled out the plug to reset the router. It was like the tearing of the Temple Curtain after the death of Jesus.

  • Ticking over. Falling asleep on the sofa a lot at the end of the day and waking up late in the evening. Unfortunately the person I'm working with isn't clear about divvying up the work when we're in conversation and tends to think out load which increases my cognitive load and frustration.

Will keep chipping away. "Clear ask and task" I keep repeating.

    This could take some time.

  • today I got into a river and removed 3 wheelie bins --- I didnt want them to get into the sea.  I am going to use them to store firewood as it dries out ( seasons )

  • Thanks, Aidie.

I used an old mop. The oil is fine. It's the plugin gauge that's faulty - probably caused by the Tractors outside.

I've had a much better day today. This morning, I got my car washed; with no queue. Then I booked an anniversary mass for my gran's parents and a brother of hers that lived in Nottingham.

Then, this afternoon, my Solicitor's Secretary emailed me; saying that the Probate for granddad has been granted. One obstacle cleared. Just the Probate for mum and dad to organise.

Also, I got more Tim Horton's from Amazon this evening.

And I will be viewing a bungalow for sale - less than three miles away from where I live - on Thursday afternoon; at half-twelve.

Today has been a belter. Smiley

  • use a broom stick ( that u dont need any more ) or shine a torch in to see if you can guess.  Its not difficult to undo an air lock in your boiler  Youtube it when it happens,  or do it now, and see if you would be able to do it

  • Beginning to question whether, or not, to remain an executor of the family estate.

The oil tank's measuring gauge has an issue; I'm not sure if there is still oil in the tank; I don't want the furnace to be air-locked. But I hope to learn how to do that, myself, though.

I can't survive on my current contributions. My monthly Bills total roughly £400, while I'm only receiving £240 every four weeks on PIP. And I have declared myself unfit for work.

I just want to give up, and run away.

  • This week I’ve been spending all my time on my special interests

  • Today I have been privileged enough to be sitting in the cockpit of some WW2 vintage DeHavilland Mosquito bombers including the prototype.        Another thing ticked off the bucket list.  Smiley

  • Well today is the final day of this lockdown for me, back to volunteering tomorrow! Extremely nervous though.

  • Been reading "What I have learned about Life" by Alis Rowe. Like a light illuminating how I see the world. I feel I am learning to understand myself all anew.
