  • I am having a similarproblem with my 5 year old, he is used to falling asleep at 7.30 and wake around 5-6am for school, now he is really struggling to go to sleep and some nights he won't sleep at all (we recently had a 48 hour no sleep days :(  ) luckily I was able to avoid him waking his 6 siblings. He is at this present moment going round the house to see his elder brothers.

Her is also running to every wall of every room constantly banging into the walls, just seems he has a extra spurge of energy. .  He dont like bed tents and with him climbing all over the place isnt ideal at all. He not at all keen on books and dont like having stories read to him!

    any ideas, would be grateful

  • thankyou MrsP, his imagination is so vivid i think we would end up playing shadows on the side of it with the torch he would demand having lol, but i may try it x

  • havetrue have you tried a bed tent? Sounds daft but it really helped my son (just a black sheet made into a tent/camp it helped him feel a bit more secure x

  • hi all, im sure we arent the only ones who have this problem but would love any ideas you may have. my son, 9, has hypersensitive hearing and the wind and rain terrifies him in bed at night. i use a fan and relaxation music which helps a little but once hes been frightened by the noise of the weather hes now frightened to go to bed, even when its quiet. any ideas would be welcome x

  • hes 6 so nothing like exams yet.  I do the samne as u for 45 mins we have what we call calm down time where they tidy toys have a book hot milk and a snack of something good like raisens apple etc just to help him settle.

But im unsure whats gettign to his when the fair came to town he got excited but nothing sleeping wise changed.  Im hoping eventually he will calm down enough as this morning its was 3am he woke the whole house up with him singing cause he was up (not impressed mummy).  But we got up and watched dvds and he was hyper from when he got up to now hes still going lol.

Thank u for ur advice hunny xxxx

  • Hi, was just wondering how old your son is ? could it be that he has something important coming up ? exams etc maybe he is anxious ! When my boy gets like this (he also needs 9-10hrs) i get really strict about an hour before bed lights off just lamps so he can relax a little, No tele or xbox etc but he is allowed to read for half an hour. Not sure whether its much help but hope you get it sorted soon. x
