I’m leaving shortly to go to The Big Bead show with my eldest (21) because we’re both into making jewellery. I just wondered what type of shows/conventions/exhibitions other people in here enjoy going to, or would like to go to?

This is why I try to buy cheap abandoned kits form ebay - all those little bits are literally worth their weight in Gold!
Yes - looking forward to Gaydon - haven't been there in years so it'll be good to make it a combined visit - all sorts of eye-candy.
The pieces are between £2 for a locker, £6 for a lifeboat and £16 for a gun - you can very quickly spend hundreds building a battleship.
We've found out that Gaydon have a model train exhibition on at the same time! Woohoo! Lots of models!
We do both Excel & Olympia - and yes, it's always packed!
Trust you to be happy about getting free cheese! Must have been like all of your Christmases came at once?
How many comics have you got in the X-men collection? How long did it take you to collect them all?
Oooooh kinky! Send me a pic ;-)
I really hope you enjoy it
Do you go to many each year?
It makes sense to do the 3D printing if it saves money and I guess if the pieces you are making are tiny that would mean less materials cost too?
It seems like Gaydon will be a bit of reminiscing as well as admiring all the cars on display?
Have you done the big Comic Con in London? I'd like to do it but I heard it gets mega busy! :o
Thanks! I will do! ^^
I usually go to MCM Comic Con in Birmingham, been to Manchester a couple of times too. They're always something to look forward to each year. :)
3D printing is becoming more mainstream and small printers are cheap - ideal for models. Also, the cost of buying bits for models is really expensive so more details = more expense. If I can make them all myself, then the cost is just the materials.
Warwick looks nice and Gaydon has a lot of interesting cars - including a Princess and Metro exactly the same as we had years ago - same versions and colour..
You know it!
Yeah, it provides a lot of work for people around here. I got loads of free entry to places on the door, free tickets at times, and stuff that was "free" if you get my meaning. One of the best times I remember getting free stuff was at the Good Food Show. They had a cheese exhibition, and because of food safety, all of the cheese was supposed to be thrown out. Had a friend involved in doing the clear up, me and my ex filled our backpacks and bags full of it. Absolute pounds of it. We gave it to friends, neighbours, and kept some. There's always stuff to be had.
I always enjoyed Autosport, looking at the Rallye stuff. Comic Con without saying. I spent a fortune one year finishing my Chris Claremont runs on X-Men.
I only dress up in a private setting. Usually as Blue Demon.

have u watched
Full Contact Sword Fighting
battles on youtube
I’ve just thought Now that I’m a qualified archery instructor, I might have to go down to the re enactment of the battle of Hastings that they put on every year! I’d like to experience taking part, just the once, apparently the re enacters get to live in a replica Saxon village for the duration of the event!

That sounds fun! You’ll have to let us know how it goes
What Comic Cons do you usually go to? I’ve been to one Comic Con before, several years ago when my eldest daughter was ‘really’ into twilight! I remember Keeley Hawes was there too, I really rate her as an actress.
I think it’s amazing that you are able to create such small collages Great for you that you’ll have them on display at the gallery! Incidentally I was diagnosed at the Maudsley, so it’s definitely a worthwhile charity to support
I might have to pop along to the gallery next time I’m down that way as I like historical exhibitions.
It probably varies, I imagine that some Autistic women are into model building too, but more traditionally feminine creative pursuits might be slightly more common.
I was sooo ridiculously obsessed with jewellery making and beads several years ago. I have a rather large stash of beads left from that time so I rarely need to buy more. I also have a kiln for making silver clay jewellery, I ‘really’ need to get around to using that! To be honest, I’m a bit scared of it, hence why I’ve avoided using it! I mean it heats to such a high temperature! What could I stand it on to use it that it wouldn’t burn to ashes? I ‘really’ need to educate myself more on using kilns
I still sew jewellery when I have the time though. I got some inspiration yesterday while looking around. See I have a book at home on making beaded Christmas tree decorations, basically snazzy covers for baubles and I have another book on how to make beaded people. So I was thinking of blending two of the designs, so the dress of the beaded person becomes a rather glamorous ball gown that drapes nicely over a bauble. I shall make one when I can find the time and upload a photo on here.
