I’m leaving shortly to go to The Big Bead show with my eldest (21) because we’re both into making jewellery. I just wondered what type of shows/conventions/exhibitions other people in here enjoy going to, or would like to go to?

I live near the NEC so over the years been to a lot. The lighting doesn't agree with me, so sunglasses and a fair few drinks before I go to anything is usually the plan. I've got a lot of freebies over the years getting in, as everyone knows someone who works there in this part of the city. I used to work there in the 90's and part of the 2000's. A few of my friends work security now, and my dad's old work place used to supply a lot of food there. It was backhanders and freebies galore at one time.
I've been to The Good Food Show, Autosport, MCM Comic Con, Collectormania, The Town and Country show, and others. Autosport and Comic Con being favourites. No cosplay.
Lucky you living so close to the NEC and knowing people that worked there (although a shame about the lighting!) and how very cool getting lots of freebies What freebies did you get? What was the best show/comic con/other that you’ve been to there? Did you go in costume?

We literally had bags full, it was a big competition so we had loads. Kept all the mature stuff mostly. Can't stand weak cheese!
Claremont left because of creative differences. Nearly all of the 90's animated series was made from his storylines. Classic TV.
Dr. Strange was so powerful, they had to nerf him. He could have took out the Avengers single handedly. Even Galactus lost easily against him in a 1 v 1. That's powerful.
Yeah, it's the same Deadpool. The comics are totally absurd, and lewder than the films.
Watchmen is about a group of semi-retired superheros who are forced back into action by the murder of one of the. I won't say anymore because spoilers! Cassandro found this article, if you don't mind spoilers, we were talking about it in a thread before. It's got very ND themes in parts. Here's the article, but there are spoilers.

Well worth a watch!
Just like you with beads!
I'm retired from playing chess!
You can be El Santa, then you don't have to be a man!
What cheeses did you get?
It’s a shame that they changed the head writer if Claremont was so good. Why did they switch to someone else? What super powers did Dr Strange have? I’ve seen the film dead pool but I think that might be different to what you’re talking about? Glad to here that you’ve got all of your comics safely stored! What happens in the Watchmen film?
A bit like me with beads then!
I bet you just want to recreate this scene and beat me at chess really!

Wait! Are you suggesting that I should dress up as a man?!
They were some real artisan cheeses too! Yeah I was happy!
I have everything in the Claremont era, thecstuff where he was head writer. So that's from No. 94 to No. 279. I've got more X-Men, but Claremont was the man when it came to X-Men. I like pre-retcon Dr. Strange a lot too, he was ridiculously over-powered. I like Deadpool too, since the 90's. The ones where there was a love triangle between Deadpool, Thanos, and Mistress Death were hilarious. Most of my stuff is boxed and sealed. I read them on PDF to save the physical copies. Never liked DC much, Watchmen is a classic though. The film is probably the greatest Superhero film, even though it departs from the comic in bits. One of my favourite films ever.
Never get me started on watches or comics! I've spent too much money on both too!
Even better you could don an El Santo mask, and we could go and fight crime!

Trust you to be happy about getting free cheese! Must have been like all of your Christmases came at once?
How many comics have you got in the X-men collection? How long did it take you to collect them all?
Oooooh kinky! Send me a pic ;-)
Yeah, it provides a lot of work for people around here. I got loads of free entry to places on the door, free tickets at times, and stuff that was "free" if you get my meaning. One of the best times I remember getting free stuff was at the Good Food Show. They had a cheese exhibition, and because of food safety, all of the cheese was supposed to be thrown out. Had a friend involved in doing the clear up, me and my ex filled our backpacks and bags full of it. Absolute pounds of it. We gave it to friends, neighbours, and kept some. There's always stuff to be had.
I always enjoyed Autosport, looking at the Rallye stuff. Comic Con without saying. I spent a fortune one year finishing my Chris Claremont runs on X-Men.
I only dress up in a private setting. Usually as Blue Demon.
