I'm a big fan of the original Back to The Future film. I think it's perfect in every way (for its time) and it leads you gently through the story, dropping all the information you need so it's simple to follow.
I've watched it many, many times and I've seen the 3rd one a few times as well although I'm not a fan.
I've NEVER seen the second film. I can't do it. I cannot engage with it - something puts me off no more than 20 minutes in. I can't even be bothered to read the Wiki-spoiler to see how it ends.
I just don't care for it.
So what classic films have you NEVER managed to make it to the end?
I wish I had never watched Johnny Darko all the way thru. I was really offended by that movies' story line in some way that i cant properly define. I just didnt get it and it really annoys me thinking about it.
I think I dont really process what a movie is telling me while Im watching it. Its only afterwards that I try and piece it altogether so unless it was just a really bad movie that didnt hold my attention enough, Id probably watch anything to the end.
Matrix?
Same! Zombie films would leave me with nightmares for weeks!
Yeah I agree with this. Sequels do not usually match up to the original!
Also, the gold bikini?
ICONIC!
Yesss, it's the only horror I could watch, don't know why..
Most of the Alien series is good though... 'Aliens' is possibly better than 'Alien' imho...
I LOVE zombie movies... BUT I get furious when people are dumb... especially when they are up against traditional 'slow' zombies...
e.g. We've been surviving in a post-zompocalypse world for 6 months but are still wearing jeans and a t-shirt and stabbing them in the head with a screwdriver...
NO! No no no no no no no!
Motorcycle leathers, helmet & a hand axe - zombie-proof.
People in movies are so dumb
I also struggle with sequels. Usually the next is much worse than the one before..
Oh, the latest Star wars... sorry. no... after Princess Lea in metal bikini, I can't watch that at all..
I am a Trecky
I'm a nerd so any technical films that stretch reality too far burn me up - like GRAVITY.
I totally cannot watch zombie movies of any sort. Generally can't watch horror. It hunts me for weeks afterwards with vivid images and I can't sleep at nights.
I'm possibly answering the question wrong or going completely off topic but I always watch films all the way through if I've started watching them. I absolutely CAN NOT watch psychological thriller films though (I'm not too great with horror either). Those things give me nightmares and make me scared to go to sleep for weeks afterwards! I'm such a wimp! I remember watching nightmare on Elm Street when I was 15 and being terrified for ages afterwards!!!
Donnie Darko.
Greetings, Plastic, this is My own little contribution to Your Thread. I Myself always leave the room when anyone uses the F-Word. It does make watching Fiction - and Real Life - somewhat difficult... but I am happy with that, and so if anyone complains about My doing so they can just F-Censored-by-Moderator Off.
...!
Speaking of things in films that aren't realistic - sex. It's never portrayed in it's embarrassing, clumsy, unintentionally funny, sticky, awkward reality...
Films that really irritate me are the ones that are just logically not possible. For example one guy on his own with a gun trying to wipe say a small army of 200 guys and manages to dodge thousands of bullets in the process.
The movie I could never watch to the end is TAKEN possibly the most annoying film I have ever started to watch.
Other things that annoy me in films is when you don't see people eat and I always think it's not true to real life as the body needs food to fuel it, and let's not forget water.
I actually thought the Carrie with Chloe Moretz was ok, I can only think the reason for a lot of these reboots is to keep legal options on the brand. Any old rubbish will do to refresh the franchise and reset the legal clock..
There are a lot of films I've started watching but then 'binned' but none I can recall trying repeatedly.
In terms of deliberate avoidance, I guess a lot of the 'reboot' type films one example being 'Carrie' - the original was so true to the book and so good I can't imagine an updated version being able to stand up against it.
Also any of the "Sharknado"-type films... just utter dross... low budget, bad acting, poor storyline - not like in the good old days of low-budget e.g. 'Tremors'...
I think of it as teamwork to achieve perfection.
