Are you close enought to France to do a booze trip? I've done a few of these and sharing the cost of a car and ferry in order to stock up in the hypermarkets can be a fun day out.

The downside is coming back with the car stinking of unpasteurised brie - I love the taste but it smells like it died a week ago.

It was always great to stock up on wines and beers (if you have a big enough car) plus I love to get a load of cooking ingredients like duck thighs in their own fat - they taste awesone re-heated and as a bonus the fat makes the most delicious roast potatoes.

Oh yeh definitely. Therapy is good. So is art. Smoking I sort of fall back on because I tried it first at 14. Always saw it as a quick way to feel better.

It either numbs you or lowers your inhibitions so you can cope better in social situations with others in a similar state. It is just a sticking plaster for the real underlying issues.

I find meditating can be both relaxing and can lead to surprising clarity when reviewing things that are on my mind. I learned from a mix of books and YouTube - the basics are fairly simple but it is the self discipline that is the kicker to get right.

Once you are over that barrier it gets a lot easier I found.

I've been decreasing the stimulants (alcohol, sugar and caffaine) for months now and it is great for having a clear mind. It helps with sleep and some stomach issues I have as well so it is paying off.

Getting lots of exercise is another great way to give the mind time to process stuff - most things where the hands are busy and the mind is free to whirr away on something else will do the trick.

If you get the chance to have a therapist helping you process the issues and then you use your free time to thing stuff through, it can be transformative.

Yeh I really need to stop. At least it got me off alcohol. But you end up just using it to numb anyway. My friend who also smokes thinks after a while it just numbs you.

A shame the UK law prohibits growing your own.
