  • There is no right or wrong answer. You can't mess it up, take the pressure off.

It is not a test. It is just a step in the path to knowing yourself better.

Don't try to guess what they want to hear. Don't try to impress them, make them like you, feel embarrassed or worried. Don't try to be normal, or to be different.

Just be you, be honest. They will have heard similar before. They won't judge or say anything nasty. They are there to listen. This is your chance to say what you really want to say. Just have the courage to say what you think. They want to see the real you.

You'll be fine. You might feel tired and a bit strange afterwards, but it will help.

You'll be proud of yourself. You'll only be annoyed if you hold back.

As I said elsewhere, you don't know what they see and you can't judge the result.

  • Hello Welshgirl87,

    - the Assessor's role: is to support you through the process

    - you can just be your natural self

    - this is not the time to worry about how someone experiences you

    - the Assessor will really want to get to know who you are

    - how best you might cope with things in life

    - what situations or environments feel like hard work for you

    - the Assessor will appreciate many people can be anxious about attending their assessment

    - your only job: is to show up and do your best at being "you"

    Take care of yourself.

    Drink enough water.

    We are thinking of you.

  • Hey hon,

First, take a deep breath. If you know any grounding exercises, practice them now. If not, breathe in for four, hold for four, exhale for four, hold for four, and repeat. This is called box breathing. Name 5 things you see, 4 things you touch, 3 things you hear, 2 things you smell, one thing you taste.

take a breath—we’re with you. This is super nerve wracking, but remember—this is not a pass fail thing. If they give you the desired response, congrats, you can proceed from there. If not, maybe this wasn’t the right doctor, maybe this wasn’t the right avenue—you can’t help that now. All you can do is just be yourself. People will judge, but good medical professionals should never judge, especially in a setting like this. If you feel uncomfortable in that way, this might not be the right team. You’re not going to mess this up because you can’t mess this up: they are looking for your authentic experience and nothing more. If it makes you feel better, these people do hundreds of these tests per month and have seen a whole gamut of human experience. The good ones won’t judge, and if they do, get far, far away—their opinions do not matter.

whatever comes out of this test, your feelings are valid, you are valid, your struggles are valid, and you don’t have to slap a specific label on to describe life kicking you down more than the average person experiences.
we’re with you. Stay strong, and keep your chin up. You’re fine the way you are.

    love,

    Max

  • Also sorry if ive put this in wrong place.
