Who can help write a complaint

Hi

I had an appt end of feb with a sw at my cmht, after being asked questions and me telling him I’ve been diagnosed with autism, he said he has to have a meeting to see if they will accept me when asked was told I’d know in a week

i took someone from a charity with me for support who after not hearing anything after the week sent an email to be told that one of the Drs has agreed to see me in April, even though I want help from a sw

i went to my gp as I wanted more support and was told to contact the cmht to chase up appts when I rang i was put through to this sw who said in order to see a sw I have to be referred by their dr, he said it would be a while to be seen as he’s on leave etc, I told him I wasn’t happy with this as I wanted more support a sw but agreed

i wasn’t happy with then told via my gp that the cmht discharged me, no communication to me, the charity worker spoke to the sw yesterday to confirm I had been discharged and he agreed as I want a sw and seems I only accepted to see their dr in order to get one (obviously if that’s the only way)

i still haven’t been told personally, so again left without support

i did put a complaint in about this cmht over a year ago due to prescribing me wrong meds and making my mh worse, and I asked to be transferred to another cmht which keeps getting ignored

ive contacted the advocate who helped with previous complaint but they’re not getting back to me, plus they don’t follow up the internal complaint where I need it to go further

can anyone recommend where I can get help writing a complaint

thanks

  • Somehow you need to find out who to complain too.  Each area in the country is controlled by a different ICB (Integrated care board) who are essentially in charge of your healthcare.  If we knew what yours was, we could point you in the right direction for how their complaints are handled.  There's not a central address for all.

  • Thanks again, I have no secondary care, this was the only support I was referred to and as they are not taking me on I have no support

  • Sorry TheCatWoman, I am very lazy to type  Relaxed

  • Thanks Jalapeño,

I have never used ChatGPT but will have a look thanks for the recommendation

  • I'm one of those who has problems with abbreviations, especially when they're in lower case rather than capitals, I end up thinking they're spelling mistakes.

  •  Sorry I can't help with your situation...Just a thought have your tried AI like ChatGPT, you can give it  anonymised details+  facts and it can construct a letter.  You just need to explain the request in the prompt: situation, attempts to resolve, who you are complaining to, and desired outcome, and it will do the rest.  You can then add extra prompt to fine tune.  Then copy & paste and add the real details/names etc back in.

You can even ask ChatGPT or Gemini what info it needs to know

  • the cmht have discharged me

This may or may not mean that secondary care have discharged you from their service though, and that's the point you need to clarify.

I can't really signpost you in the direction of who to contact because I don't know which ICB is dealing with your care, and until you know that, it is difficult to ascertain their procedures.

  • Thanks for the reply overwhelmed and Underwhelmed

i wasn’t aware of the abbreviation situation so will keep that in mind

the cmht have discharged me, they confirmed to the charity worker who supported me, said I only want to engage with their dr to get help from a social worker

ive used PALS before and didn’t find them helpful, I would like someone to write a complaint letter then follow up further with the community mental health teams template response

  • I can see the list of events that have unfolded since you saw the Social Worker at the Community Mental Health Team.

(Just a reference, some people here aren't familiar/adept with abbreviations, so it is probably better to write out the full words at least once if you can)

These services are normally organised by secondary care in your area and will have a physical address to which you can write to, together with a complaints procedure.  Often this is via PALS (Patient liaison).

I am not clear if you've been discharged from the CMHT or from secondary care altogether, and if I were you I'd be wanting to find out for sure.  I'd also ask that your history with them be put in writing.

If you ring the service they will normally give you the contact details to make a complaint without question.   PALS are normally very helpful, and will often speak to you about this to make the process easier.
