Depression or burnout or low self-esteem (All 3?)

I've had issues with hyperfocus, overwhelm and inability to complete a writing task of a type that I have difficulties with and those difficulties have escalated over the years. Now I cannot complete the written work. I cannot even think about tackling anything that involves cognitive effort and feel very down. Is this depression or burnout or low self-esteem? Feeling a lot of shame.

  • The situation on this forum is that we may read a post - even identify with it - but can't be definitive in answering because to do so would be to express a medical opinion, and that's not allowed.   For good reason too, as someone might tell you something, you act upon it, only for you to find out you'd been given wrong advice.

You can however be links relating to matters you've shared, and suggestions as to places that might be of further help - not to mention people sharing similar experiences.

You'll notice from the name I use here that overwhelm is something I identify with.  The causes vary from person to person, and I do strongly suggest that you get some professional advice/support if it is affecting your everyday life & wellbeing.  In my case I started to experience similar as a teenager, and it got to the point that I felt I had nowhere to turn.  Perhaps if I had, life would have panned out differently for me.

There's nothing to be ashamed about.  We are living in enlightened times, and without wishing to alarm, you could do more harm by not flagging this up.  A relatively simple solution could be all it takes to help you back onto the right path.

Please call your GP  /  refer yourself to Primary Care for some assistance.  Wishing you well.
