Newly diagnosed with Aspergers at 35

This isn't the norm for me, and really isn't part of my routine, but maybe being able to communicate with people that can understand me, may help as I get so frustrated and angry cause there isn't anyone that does.

  • I got diagnosed at 30 myself; problem is finding a social group in my area as the one in my borough has an upper age limit of 25.

  • I've recently been diagnosed with Asperger's at 55!  (Any bids for 65?)

After the diagnosis, I did not receive any specialised support for a period of six weeks, which was the time I felt I most needed it.  A one-hour 1:1 autism advice session was scheduled almost immediately, and I've attended it, but by the time the appointment actually arrived it wasn't so important for me.

I presume support varies regionally but my local autism unit seems willing to meet for fairly regular 1:1 sessions - they ask for a specific issue to be discussed.  I've also been booked onto a post-diagnostic support group - a six-part course starting in January (about three months after my diagnosis).

  • Since your diagnosis, what kind of support are you getting? I went to see my GP, and his response was the NHS is busy and under staffed my dear ! and sent me away, with the advise of contacting the team who diagnosed my Aspergers.

  • Hey I was diagnosed witn Aspergers just last week I'm 45!!!
