Hello

Hello. My name’s Penny, I’m diagnosed with ASD but it was when I was 4 and was called Asperger’s Syndrome then. Not a lot has changed since my diagnosis, I think things have gotten worse but then there is a lot of stress in my life and that leads to a lot of masking but I’m trying to mask less and cope with things better.

My fave thing is Harry Potter. I’m a huge Harry Potter fan! It’s my special interest. I love all the books and movies and own a lot of Harry Potter collectables. Also enjoy gaming and spend most of my time playing The Sims 4..

I’m trying to get through life as an autistic adult and taking each day as it comes.

Nice to meet you.

Best wishes,
Penny Two hearts

  • Hello there Penny!

You’ll find that there’s a number of people that enjoy Sims 4 on here. There’s even a whole thread about it! I personally spend most of my time playing Smash Bros and other Nintendo games. Though the last week I’ve been sucked into Humankind, a strategy game.

I think things have gotten worse but then there is a lot of stress in my life

Yeah that makes sense. From what I’ve heard what you experience from ASD can shift over time. Especially if you’re a young adult, there’s so much changes and stress that happen when you step into adulthood. Some things will change for the worse, some for the better. For example, when I was younger I used to abhor anything spicy, but now I am sensory seeking enough that I look for spicy foods from time to time. Just remember to be patient and kind to yourself.

  • Hello and welcome! I don’t watch too many films but I’ve been interested in the Harry Potter films as everyone seems to rave over them and tell me I’m missing out. I have also been playing sims 4 lately but im still quite new to it. I do have some expansion packs though and treated myself to the SpongeBob one at the weekend. I’m more of a Nintendo gamer myself.

  • Hello Penny and welcome to the community.

I've just finished a bit of a marathon re-watch of the HP films and will give the books a re-read before I watch the new TV series. I found there is so much missed out from the films that it is worth reading after watching to catch the details.

I do wish they had worked on some other spin off rather than remaking the books in TV format - there is a lot in that universe to explore.

Do you follow any of the fan fiction writers?
