Want to make friends or need help making friends?

Hello everyone,

I am Mark. I hope this message finds you all well. I want to connect with others who might be feeling the same way that I do. I am not sure if I am looking to make friends or create lasting connections. I sometimes wish I could talk to some one when I am in trouble. Someone maybe, could guide me? I would at least like to know what shouldn't do. Or maybe, just talk about things.

Perhaps we could talk about films. I almost never miss a movie in the cinemas. I'm just not really into tv shows and series. Its just I hate to stop in the middle, and I might end up binge-watching the whole thing and I have a really bad perception of time.

I like listening to music. I like Linkin Park, Led Zeppelin, Queen, AC/DC, ABBA, Deep Purple, Madonna, Tame Impala, etc. (please suggest me some artists, if you find similar songs interesting.)

I take long nature walks, museums, parks. I like animals. I always go to a nearby park and feed squirrels, or ducks.

I wouldn't say I don't like social interactions. I just don't like it when I don't know what to do. Or when people don't split the bill.( I know you are trying to be nice, but it's going to bug me for days). I like board games.

I understand we're all in different stages of life and have our own unique personalities and needs, And I am open to any opinion you have and I completely respect that. I am just trying to find a way to fit in somewhere, and I have no idea what I am.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and perhaps getting to know some of you better. Feel free to share your experiences, insights, or even your own journey in seeking friendship.

Warm regards,

Mark1289

  • Hello Mark.

if you like 1970’s blues/rock, I would suggest try listening to  The Groundhogs or Rory Gallagher.

in person socialising is not really for me.  Have now largely lost interest in even trying.

  • Hi Mark

This community seems like a good place to make friends, or simply connections with others on a similar wavelength.

Hope you enjoy your time here Slight smile

  • I listened to Pulse by Pink Floyd when I was walking today. I've never really listened to them much before but I've really liked the early and middle albums.

  • Bowie was one of a kind. I like pink floyd, I have their dark side of the moon album.

  • i adore david bowie! personally i also really love pink floyd, legendary stuff man. also love some clasic thrash like metallica or iron maiden (especially ride the lightning aka the blue album)

  • I'm not exactly social, well that's not true, I am but my way of being social differs from most people's which is why I try not to be social because I never fit in.

Your music taste is very good - I love Queen and Abba.. Have you heard any of David Bowie's music? If not give him a try, I feel he is one of the best singer songwriters I've ever heard.

I also enjoy long walks and listening to music. Music is the one thing that I can always turn to, there's a song for every moment of my day.

I hope you'll make some connections here it's a good community.

  • I'm not good at connecting with people either. Long walks and music are very much my thing. I did maybe 7.5 miles earlier (trying to build back up to longer ones than that) and can't wait for my next chance.

For some reason Led Zeppelin are permanently linked in my brain to walking through north London. I still listen to them every now and then, but not as much as the slightly weirder bluesy rock artists from back then. Hendrix, Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers etc.

  • HI Emmy,

Thanks for replying. Being me is complicated. Its really difficult to start a conversation. In a group setting, I'll be standing in the corner and taking to myself, unless someone decides to talk to me. Sometimes I am surprised by my ability to go on weeks, without talking to a single person. Even when I am talking to someone I can't make eye contact. I look at their shoes or somewhere else. Which people find weird. Like I am not interested. Which I could be. But I don't want to look at their face.

    My top films favourites are:

    1. Interstellar,
    2. Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
    3. Star Wars: Return of the Jedi

I watched Barbie too. It was too cartoonish, which sounds right for a movie about a kid's toy. And the musicals and synchronised dance was so ridiculous. I loved it. I liked the whole move, but I am not sure about the speech parts. I don't know how to feel about it.

I still not convinced autism is what's wrong with me. There is something really wrong about me deep inside. I really do wish it is autism though. As much I want to deny it, the may be autistic part kept me alive so far. So I am giving it a try.

    Thanks Emmy.

  • I'm not the best at making friends but u should always be urself. U sound nice so I hope your make some friends soon

I love films what's ur fave one? I recently watched Barbie with my sisters. First time I went to cinema in ages but we all really enjoyed it

I'm not great at being social but I think under the difficult autism circumstances we do ok Slight smile
