Hello. I have an adult relative with Asperger's. He feels he might benefit from some Zoom counselling sessions but we have not been able to find out anything about these. Has anybody had any experience of Zoom sessions? The NHS will not provide contact details of specialist counsellors so we are stuck. I hope other people find it easier to navigate the system...Thanks.
I'm sorry to hear about your relative's struggle. Zoom counseling sessions can be a great option, especially for someone with Asperger's. It might be worth exploring local support groups or online communities to find recommendations. By the way, have you considered using Cloud Softphone to make it easier to connect with potential counselors? It could streamline the process.
Thank you - that's very clear and helpful.
I'll do that. Many thanks.
It's all a bit of a maze so thank you for telling me of your experience with the system.
That is very helpful. Thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to reply. I really appreciate it.
You want the BACP website. That is the directory for qualified counsellors in the uk.
You can search by specialism. Autism informed counselling is essential if it is to do any good.
The good news is that due to the pandemic many are now offering nationwide via Zoom and often have dropped their charges because they now don't need to hire rooms or travel.
Good luck
Hello Kim.
Hi, as a counsellor myself, I would recommend you look for a counsellor on a reputable site such as counselling directory, psychology today or Bacp.co.uk. Average price is around £45 per hour. Search for someone who mentions specialising in or having understanding of autism. I hope he finds the right support for him.
I do Zoom counselling and boy do I need it lol! I got mine after visiting the doctors, was put on a wait list and then got some counselling. If you've not been too the doctors then go and explain the situation make them understand how desperate he needs this. Unless they understand I find the doctors do fook all.
You could also have a look online for counselling but it will cost you. Finding one to help your son might be hard, very few people out there know about autism.
Good luck love.
Hi NAS77824,
I'm sorry to hear that you have found it difficult to find appropriate counselling for your relative. It may be useful to have a look at our services directory which may have what you're looking for:
https://www.autism.org.uk/directory under ‘Health & Counsellors’.
All the best,
ChloeMod
Follow these steps and it will be straightforward.
To use video conferencing on eg Teams or Zoom you will need a computer, tablet, or smart phone with the installed software. Google how to install these if you are unsure.
Good luck.
the italian senate had a bit of experience with zoom sessions recently.... seems just about anyone can join them so they learnt during one of their televised sessions lol they got a nice view of tifa from ff7 doing some things.
