Hi
I am new here, last year I went for initial assesment for AS. I am still waiting for my further assessment, however, I felt all my life that have had AS. I wanted to speak in the community because I have been struggle with aspects of my potential AS.
Thanks!
I had my assessment last week and didn’t have anyone with me but it isn’t essential if you can answer questions about your childhood. I also got a bunch of paperwork to fill out, including one to be done by someone who knew you in childhood so they will also use that as a reference point
.
Hi Aidie, no they don’t charge money because my local NHS authority is ‘sub-contracting’ out some of their Neuro assessments. Healios may do private consultations. Their website isn’t particularly clear. I’ll keep posting throughout the process in a hope to be able to get some definite information into the community.
do they charge money ??
welcome :)
That's good - hope you get your assessment soon too Thank you.
Hey, thanks for the reply. I’ve been referred to go through the autism assessment through Healios, online. Just waiting to hear back from them but it would appear that they are quite speedy in their response. Thanks also Duckbread for your reply to my other thread. New to online forums so I was getting a bit overwhelmed & confused about it all. Hope you hear back soon!
Hi - welcome to the forum I've been on the waiting list for well over a year now and haven't had my initial assessment yet. I can't believe the wait between the initial and further assessment is so long! Hope you hear back from them soon.
I've found the community really helpful, so I hope you do too.
Hi all, I’m new here too...and not used to how forums totally work, I’ll just put this out there. I’ve been referred for an autism assessment and in most of the literature I’ve read they talk a lot about having someone with you who knows you well/from childhood. I have neither, is this likely to cause a problem? Thanks in advance for your patience.
welcome Rainbowgirl.
Welcome!x
Hello, welcome, hope you will enjoy the time and make some friends in the process.
Hello
I am also a newbie to this community and am finding my way around. I hope that you find some support here.
Hi!
How are you?
Hello and welcome.
NHS diagnosis appear to be a lengthy process. I'm not certain as I sought mine privately. For £450 approx I had a two or three week wait and inside an hour at the Axia diagnostic centre, i had my diagnosis. Getting help from the NHS and other government agencies has been challenging through their ignorance but i at least have a legal diagnosis and that puts certain obligations on these government agencies via the autism strategy.
I'm just basically saying that if you feel the diagnostic process is taking too long, maybe seeking it privately may help
Thank you
