I think it would definitely be a good idea to get in touch with your local NAS branch. Maybe get in touch with whoever's running it and they should be able to point you in the right direction for support for you and for your son too. I know that in my area there are gatherings specifically for parents with adult children.

I'm quite new here too.
How old is your son? Have you only recently received the diagnosis?
This forum is a good place for asking any questions etc.
If you have a look here: http://www.autism.org.uk/our-services/find-nas-services-in-your-area/local-branches.aspx you should be able to find a local group of the NAS. They might hold coffee mornings or get togethers where you can go along - it might just be a relief to go along and chat to others who understand what you're going through.
