Hi
You don't say which bone/s your daughter broke and of course we are not mediacal professionals. However i broke a metatarsal last year. The pian went on and on and i could not go back to running which was distressing for me. I was also told i must have that pain syndrome thing. However i pushed the doctor to do a more thorough examination and he found the ligament of the peroneus brevis muscle had become inflamed where it attaches to the metatarsal. He gave me some special shoe inserts and the pain went very quickly.
The foot is a very complex thing and even though the bones have healed the muscles and ligaments may not be working as they should due to imbalances set up during the healing time. This can cause a great deal of pain
Hi Vickers, thank you for replying. Im sorry you are still in pain with your foot, but it gives me some hope that her pain is real, as I dont know how we will break the cycle if its psycological. She has a scan booked in a couple of weeks so that may give us some clues. We also have some ibruprufen cream from the Doctor, which seems to give her some temporary relief. x
hello act, I can fully understand what your daughter is going throw,I broke my foot back in July and although the bone is fully fixed the foot its self is still very painful due to muscle damage and my foot being stiff, I struggle to walk on it still,a few months after my foot was fixed I tried swimming and was so humiliated as the pain was so bad getting out of the pool that I haven't been back since, maybe your daughter is feeling the same frustrating feeling that I'm feeling with my foot and if she is I can totally understand why she got so upset in school as it makes you feel helpless in every thing you do,a break takes time to heal and so does the fact her foot might feel different to how it felt before,I no mine does,my youngest has autism and he found the whole thing with me just having a cast on upsetting,he still mentions my broken foot now,I really hope I've helped in anyway even if it is from just someone who has broken her foot, with your daughter I just think she needs time and maybe more reassurance?.good luck
