Ibs symptoms, low blood pressure, aches linked to autism?

Hi,

Does anyone have any successful experience coping with IBS symptoms please? It's kind of ruining my plans a lot and I'm struggling to manage it.

Also can things such as low blood pressure and regular back ache be linked to autism? Because these just won't go away.

I've not been given any advice by anyone since getting my diagnosis about eight years ago. Really worried I'm stuck like this because it's making life less than worthwhile.

  • If your back aches a lot then maybe see and ostopath or chiropractor, I have IBS and have found that even a minor injury to my back make a huge impact on it.

Low blood pressure isn't taken seriously in this country, its seen as a good thing, even when you're walking about in a slight haze because of it and feel dizzy when standing up.

If I'm getting a lot of cramps I drink fennel tea and if its really bad fennel and chamomile, both are availble from supermarkets. Fennel is a good but mild anti-spasmodic and chamomile is chalming and mildly pain killing.

AS ever you should always seek proper medical advice, blah blah, I have to say this or get told off by the mods.

  • I drink lots of water, my sleep is fine - if anything I sleep too much as I'm constantly tired during the day. My diet is healthy/rigid.

  • for me all my stomach and digestion issues I believe are related to my anxiety, which probably most of which are related to Autism.

Also I've drank alcohol in the evening  for years, self medicating for ASD /Anxiety I wasn't aware of - I've cut down recently - harder to do when the weather's nice - and I have noticed an improvement since cutting down.  Not sure I could stop completely but it may happen - am just not setting myself up to fail on that.

My blood pressure is usually elevated when I check

  • Autism can cause you to forget to drink. Being dehydrated can have a number of effects.

Sitting for long periods can lead to poor posture, pelvis titled back, which can cause lower back pain.

Autism makes a lot of things stressful. Chronic stress has a number of effects, including hormone imbalance and lack of sleep. And lack of sleep also causes hormone problems.

Chronic stress also causes digestive issues and can contribute to autoimmune issues.

I don't think specific health advice can be given here, but general points like keeping hydrated, resting well, managing stress and eating a healthy diet should not be too controversial.
