I use a unique example of technological assistance - an autistic brain. Not understood by anyone else, a bit temperamental, the operating system is getting on a bit, and liable to crashing anytime during the day especially in the evening. It can be very random in output, and gets confused by too many instructions at the same time. But I have had it for over six decades and don't want to trade it in for a newer model or have it 'repaired' or tampered with.
The reference is just my name for a similar sounding (but not quite) social networking site which I cannot really be bothered with but my name for it seems to me to suit it better. Well it does to me anyway!

It is true that 419 scammers usually don't pretend to be from anywhere other than West Africa (I think including Togo, Benin and Côte d'Ivoire), but by definition they begin by encouraging trust, typically by making an uncleared payment or cheque to a bank account. You've probably also had these claims from people impersonating friends that they're stuck in some remote place and need money transferred urgently - the common factor is trying to panic people. I'd suggest caution, yes, as always, but not jumping to conclusions.
Seems to give some more evidence we should all be very careful with those we don't know. Intentions may be honourable but there are a lot of underlying concerns here and I would not feel confident about exchanging facepack details in private messages especially at an early stage. Messages on here suggest that someone may be attempting some scam and it might not be the poster of the main message. Something in this whole thing does not strike me as being totally bona fide
