I cant express myselfe better

  •  .. sometimes when others talking to me ,,im  not be able to reply dirctly but the response will forms later ..in the end

  • Also a lot of social dialogue is far from essential. And NTs mostly forget what was said. It only matters where some critical opinion or reaction needs to be imparted.

You'll probably find an individual instance where you didn't reply fully or meaningfully has been forgotten, though they might register if you do this a lot, that you aren't good at it. But they are only going to be concerned if your input was important.

I try to smile a lot, and do a lot of nodding. OK it can be unlucky if the conversation turns to bereavement, or someone seriously ill or someone who has lost their job. I just have to hope I pick up on that at some point down the line, so I can correct myself.

But most of the time you don't actually need to give a full reply. Some NTs grunt and ermm a lot, as a form of demurment, showing they understand. They are just taken as being not very talkative.

  • Yes, unfortunately a lot of us with ASD have slower processing speeds than other people so someone might say something to us and it will take a while to formulate a response. It doesn't make you weak though aoch, and don't forget that many of us on the spectrum have difficulting expressing ourselves. I myself am not so great at expressing myself verbally. So you're not alone!

I think it's a common problem for us. Sometimes people don't expect a fully thought through answer so it's ok to give your first thought. You can also qualify your reply by saying you aren't sure. For example,

Q what is the weather doing today

A I'm not sure, perhaps it will rain.

This can work in lots of situations. People aren't too bothered by the accuracy of your prediction,

Aoch, you really don't need to apologise :-) It would be nice to discuss anything you want to talk about. What's on your mind?
