Shifting between sad and crying vs happy and ok

Hi, so I think I'm going through a burnout, it built up through my whole life. I'm unemployed now. Throughout day I cry uncontrollably and later that same day I'm ok and everything doesn't seem so bad. Then I hear a sad song and cry again. Then I do some task like sell something online and I feel good again. Does this have something to do with autism???

  • I have to find it unfortunately.. Though I can't do most of jobs now because of physical issues.. I'm fine now, can't understand what made me like that a few days ago and that scares me. Am I just faking it all now?

  • I got a burnout months ago, and was unemployed as well.

I am not a doctor, and this isn't medical advice or a diagnosis, it is just my personal experience.

In my case, it was not intense sadness and happiness moments but depression. Everything felt too much, even typing, talking and reading.

Eventually it occurred to me, maybe by the therapist's insistence that it was important to take care of the body and the mind for a while, and that meant many months living quietly.

Government support for this healing time depends on the specific case and health condition.

Slowly, the body returns to a more stable and resilient state.

Searching for a job may need to be put off for a while,  because it is extra anxiety and responsibility, so at first it is better to forget about it. But it is not always possible.

  • A few months ago when me and my partner weren't together and it seemed very final one minute I was fine and doing great the next I felt like a failure

I find with autism we maybe feel emotions deeper

  • Ohhh thank you, it's comforting to hear I'm not alone. I have 0 support irl and I don't trust therapists here. But I'm thinking about telling my close friends.. Just not right now, I want to give myself time. I really wonder if there will be progress with research on this.
And yeah, I'm ok now so I seem mad to myself now -_-

    1. Honestly I think it’s a very mixed bag with stuff like this because there’s so many random things like this that I’ve learned are caused by autism, especially stuff to do with emotions. But you’re not alone and I also experience this frequently and haven’t found any proper answers. From what I’ve seen and experienced this could be caused by hypersensitivity, you’ve said that you’re going through a burnout so it’s normal for you to naturally be more emotional right now. But I know it’s so mentally draining and exhausting to experience this, the sudden shift of emotions can really mess with your head and send you into a spiral. If you have any form of support irl I’d really recommend reaching out and getting it off your chest. I’d also recommend doing some research into this and seeing if there’s anything out there that is similar to your experience (I personally haven’t seen this mentioned much tho and everyone experiences things differently so I think that would be a good option) But yeah, you’re not alone on this and I’m wishing you all the best
