Observant

Is any with asd super observant and notice everything

  • It depends, if I am interacting with somebody I nothing nothing as I need to concentrate on the person, particually if its at work. When I am on my own in the outside world I notice loads my wife seems to miss.Like if there are people I know, and maybe avoid I notice them very early. Like the sort of people who stop you in the street, my wife will question me as why I am moving across the street a bit to avoid things she hasn't seen.

  • Yeah sometimes I am. I think when I’m stressed out I tend to absorb more details about my environment. Like when my wife is driving in heavy traffic I notice lots of details around us, but if the drive is pretty chill I barely notice a thing. I’ve always attributed that to my ADHD and anxiety, though.

  • Could it be that we lack the filters to block out a lot of the stuff NTs' can block out. We process all the information available and therefore can notice small changes that scream out to us that the NTs' overlook?

  • I don't notice everything, but do tend to notice things that others miss.

Attention to detail and a good memory are useful for growing plants as a hobby, but also for work as you can highlight problems that others don't notice or do roles well that others struggle with.

Being super observant would be a good trait for quality control positions, perhaps companies should seek ASD people for this.

I tend to carefully observe my garden which is why I have some good pictures. I will see if I can sort out some to post on one of the other threads.

  • Yes I am, I have cPTSD, but I don't hink its all related to that though, I think many of us with ASC notice far more that others and we are more aware of our surroundings than others. I'd only bother going to the doctors if noticing things, makes you anxious and fearfull, if not then I think it's a useful skill.
