So What’s Everyone Doing Over Easter?

My wife and I are travelling down to Cornwall tomorrow at 4am, I’ve got two weeks off work so can get the heating replaced and ceilings removed in our future home. We are about 7 miles inland from a major seaside town, most probably won’t go into town as it will be too peopley.
My son is coming down for the first week to help me. Hopefully will have some downtime to go and explore the quieter areas.

  • Finding a pair of sturdy boots and a fearsome spaniel and fending off the tourists who inevitably wander across my meadows. It's a nightmare Tired face

It's all very well, being on holiday, but it's my space being intruded on, it feels wrong.

Also, writing, which I must do.

So much to do, I've only just got over the house being repointed. House with garden

And already the summer term is looming...

  • Wishing I had more energy, not sure if it is reaching my full hours this month at work after returning following burnout or hayfever. I did a bit of gardening and that was enough. So now I am enjoying having extra time away from work.

I had some lovely holidays when I was younger with relations in Cornwall. I loved the pace of life there, as well as the lovely scenery and fresh air. I enjoyed many coastal walks. Hope you get enough done Roy and some time to enjoy the quieter areas. A lovely future to look forward to.

  • I meant...    what do you think of when you think of seaside?

And there will be water anyway so I guess you have a point.  Does salt water do more damage than rain water to phones & cameras?  Good point Laughing

  • You might need to invest in a waterproof camera or a mini umbrella for your camera... Thinking

I will leave it all in your capable hands... You're the expert after all!

  • I can't wait to see!!!

I'm praying for rain !! Laughing  (joking)

You'll have to let me know if you think of any special requests WITHIN REASON !! Laughing

  • I could sell my pasties, but I doubt everyone would want them as they're pretty much vegan, I put a bit of butter in the pastry or it's too short. They're my own recipe, chestnut, leek and mushroom pasties, but then you can have them with chips and everyone round here seems to want every meal to include chips!

  • I have an idea, and nobody can accuse me of not being dedicated.  I should have time to get down there tomorrow !!

  • That's the sort of dedication that earns people stripy beach towels and gluten free ice cream IcecreamIce cream

We're all rooting for you! Joy

  • Gardening (been neglected).

    Photography (been promised).

Repackaging expensive new lawnmower that somehow came in many pieces and has to back into same box to be sent back as it's faulty - without losing my sanity.

Trying not to annoy anyone, or myself (impossible)

    Zero chocolate

  • My favourite is Son of a preacher man, Lady Penelope from Thunderbirds was based on Dusty. I loved her work with The Pet Shop Boys. She in the end found animals to be kinder than humans and unfortunately had a lot of demons to deal with. Have you listened to any of her early work with The Springfields?

  • Some of us have photography homework Laughing

  • I did know you are in the loop, I just love her attitude to life.

  • Hope you enjoy your time in Cornwall. Lovely part of the country, such a beautiful place.

My Easter will be quiet hopefully - I'm going to try and spend it being productive... Maybe go for some walks if the weather cheers up a bit.

    Happy Easter everyone!!

  • Thank you.

I’m in regular contact with a mutual friend, they are feeling much better . I have been looking at their artwork,

If you mean U me too.

    She is brilliant.

  • I freak out near spiders, this is why my son will be removing the ceilings, I am quite happy with a shovel and wheelbarrow.

I’m quite lucky, there is a beach not too far away that the tourist don’t know of. ( no shops) You should sell pasties, the shops here charge £5 each for them!

  • I do try and remember that too Roy, I just wish they'd remember to pack their manners when they come on holiday.  It's nice in winter being able to go more  or less where I want, I had to do a 25 mile round trip the other day to find somewhere I could walk Fearn off the lead and let her have a good run.

Are you taking up the floors too? You could knock the ceiling out from the floor above? I wouldn't want to take down ceilings in an old house, to many spiders!

  • I’m an interloper in Cornwall, the Winter is much nicer as I can take the dog on the beach. As much as tourists can be annoying, I try to remember that the local businesses really need them. I imagine you have had to contend with them for much longer than me.
A tall person for removing ceilings, you are ideal! alas I am vertically challenged.

    Enjoy your Welsh Pasties.

  • Just promise there will be no pineapple involved.Smiley

  • That sounds fun. I like to make homemade pizza, it’s normally lots of fun and I always have Domino’s ready to call as a plan b.
