So What’s Everyone Doing Over Easter?

My wife and I are travelling down to Cornwall tomorrow at 4am, I’ve got two weeks off work so can get the heating replaced and ceilings removed in our future home. We are about 7 miles inland from a major seaside town, most probably won’t go into town as it will be too peopley.
My son is coming down for the first week to help me. Hopefully will have some downtime to go and explore the quieter areas.

  • I'm hiding from tourists, reading the latest issue of the Fortean Times, I may make a load of pasties.

I think I'd rather have your weekend than mine Roy, good luck.

  • My son is coming back from university today, we're going to make pizza's from scratch later, I just have to find the bread yeast.

  • Enjoy Cornwall Roy, it's a beautiful part of the world to be in for a holiday. Perfect for a future home, enjoy the DIY!

Happy Easter everyone! (And a happy Friday to those who may not celebrate Easter for whatever reason) hope you all have a good break whatever you get upto.

We're doing family stuff, in-laws round one day and my lot the other and some shopping in between. I'm cooking on both occasions which I find is equal measures of stress and enjoyment!

Fingers crossed for the English weather... So far it's a bit damp...

  • Thank you Debbie, I’m sorry you are spending some of your time in a hospital, I hope your relative is well soon. I’m in regular contact with a mutual friend, they are feeling much better . I have been looking at their artwork, I’m really jealous.

Happy Easter, live long and prosper!

  • I love that so many singers come up with a stage name. Dusty Springfield is a beautiful name, it matched her nicely.

I think she lived a really interesting life, I love her comeback music like In Private what she did with the Pet Shop Boys. She had such a unique voice and a great ear for music, did you know when she recorded You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me she did it in the recording studios stairwell??? She said it was the only place the acoustics suited her and wasn’t happy with it until after 47 takes!

She was so awesome. Pretty too, I would love to look like she did.

I wish I had been alive then, I would have totally braved the anxiety and gone to see her in concert.

    Whoops that was long...Sorry.

    Good luck with the beehive!

    Thanks! Smiley

  • Visiting a close relative in hospital, unfortunately.

Roy, you have (and continue to) worked really hard for this dream to come true.

All the very best and I hope you enjoy your time there.

Happy Easter to you and yours, and all forum members.

  • I just had a quick google, the play looks very interesting. I hope you enjoy it. I’m not a crowd person, I wish to be treated like the inside of an antique shop, by all means look, but don’t touch!

  • The locals apparently call the mist / drizzle, mizzle . I’m a big ’Dusty’ fan. I’m trying not to go into ‘anorak’ mode, her real name was Mary O’Brien. Good luck with the beehive!

  • Hope the trip goes well Roy, Cornwall is a great place, spent many family holidays there. One thing I hope to catch today is the Pace Egg play, not seen one since secondary school I think, so looking forward to watching that, hopefully the weather remains dry and its not too crowded!

  • I live in Cornwall! It’s lovely this time of year, IF it’s not raining… big if. Yeah avoid the inner populated areas, especially this weekend. It’s busy already this week alone.

This weekend my older sister is coming over to see us. She promised me she will watch The Jungle Book with me! So I have that to look forward to. Also this weekends second big thing is I also want to try and follow a tutorial online to try and do my hair in the early Dusty Springfield beehive style! *squeals excitedly* I’m a big Dusty fan thanks to my Gran playing records over and over when I was super little. My hair is average atm so I’m going to try and perfect this style this weekend –my sister is helping me too.

I hope you and your wife enjoy your time in Cornwall this weekend and that the weather won’t be too bad.
