Why can't I send someone a personal message? I clicked on peoples names and looked through the options but there seems to be no way to take this forward, or is there something I'm missing? It's probably me being thick again
Just bumping this so that new members know that problems persist and (hopefully) won't disappear because of them (although that hope might be a tall order).
I find the same, whole threads seem to disapear and posts from within threads, I thought it was just me!
My account is only 4 days old and I am already wondering if I am wasting effort (I have already experienced a (weekday) post which I saw resolved as saved OK / visible in the thread, log in the next day (weekday) to see how the thread had developed - only to realise a) my post had since disappeared, and b) I have received no Moderator email / forum notification of an issue (double-checked by account profile settings - no hiccup there).
Do I need to e-mail the community manager or anything
If this is becoming a persistent problem then write to the community manager - there may be some flag on your account that is not being reset automatically for some reason (technical bug perhaps) or maybe you are inadvertently triggering the suspicious activity alerts - they should be able to advise you what the issue is and can hopefully fix it or advise you what not to do.
And now it's saying there's a new reply to this forum in the last day that doesn't exist! unless it's right down near the bottom where I didn't look. Why can't they put the posts in chronological order!?
How long am I going to have to put up with messages going into moderation for? Do I need to e-mail the community manager or anything, or will it stop automatically eventually? And the fact that some of my posts aren't appearing at all is putting me off writing much just in case I'm wasting my time writing stuff!
Dear Hopscotch Queen Since 2015,
We are sorry that you are having technical issues. We would like to try to resolve these problems but we haven’t received your emails, to contact us please email CommunityManager@nas.org.uk
I hope this is helpful.
Kind Regards,
Rosie Mod
I'm getting the same. Really annoying, half my stuff isn't working or appearing. Long messages are gone so keeping it short.
All my messages (including pms) are going into moderation; some of them aren't appearing for 3 days, some aren't appearing at all!
And when they do appear 3 days later, of course nobody sees them because they say '3 days ago' so nobody bothers to look at them, and if nobody else has added any reply the thread doesn't move to the top, it just stays down there with all the other messages that are 3 days old.
And yes, our messages are being censored. Like I said, some of my messages aren't appearing at all!, and I'm not receiving any explanation as to why!
am wondering if some aren't viewing the site through rose tinted glasses
"You had to be there" I guess...
I'm constantly getting this now
I'm now getting that too. And another message that I wrote on Saturday has gone into moderation and still not appeared now!
How's everyone finding things since the update? I couldn't log in since this afternoon until just now. So far all seems to be working okay for me, hope its been behaving for everyone else.
Either that or I'm a site killer, lol and it all goes to pot when I turn up!
But I am wondering if some aren't viewing the site through rose tinted glasses?
I think you are right - people have a habit of forgetting the bad bits of social interaction in many cases and I think this is what is happening here.
They are recalling the positive interactions rather than the tech issues, arguements, trolls and those who passed on.
Then novelty of finding the community will always have a rosy glow to it and the feeling of becoming a part of it early in our posting history gives the sense of new community. Fast forward a year or two and it no longer feels so new and shiny, we are a bit bored as we have seen it all before and start to feel a bit jaded.
So I think this is all quite natural.
I used to be on another site that has now closed and everyone there kept going on about "the good old days", how many friends they made both online and irl, I wonder if it's just one of those things, sites change, people come and go, admittedly tech problems don't help. But I am wondering if some aren't viewing the site through rose tinted glasses?
I forgot to mention that some of my messages that go into moderation never appear at all, including at least one that said something bad about the moderators, which is part of the evidence that they're censoring what we're saying.
No problem at all. I'm sorry the people on other sites were abusive-never an excuse for reacting like that. I'm glad you told me earlier. I would rather be told if I'm making things difficult. Have a nice night CatWoman.
Thank you HQS, appologies accepted gratefully and thank you for acknowleging my post with the reply that isn't rude, when I've raised this on other sites I've been met with abuse.
