An EXCELLENT observation Debbie. Brava.
I've just added a post to it......and it still won't find itself on the Home Page......although my new post on that thread does appear within it.....for me.
If you use the "Search Bar" above to find "3 Good Things"......you can visit it.......but it appears to be "disappeared" from the Home Page for some unknown reason.
Who, or what, are we allowed to blame? Gremlins? Computers? Software? ...... nothing and no one is to blame ..... its not worth mentioning .... we are not the Jedi you are looking for ?
DISAMBIGUATION - Some of this post is in jest, some of it might be more serious ?!
Has anything changed since the weekend and the maintainance?
'Home' is no longer showing all the threads, at least for me.
This happened yesterday and I thought it was a one off but today it's not showing '3 Good Things'.
Is it the height of irony to have to tell a machine many times a day that I'm human?
I fear this might make me doubt my humanity.
I'm having trouble using emoticons and editing posts, but so far this is only happening in the Creative thread, which is especially odd.
I was just trying to help by making you aware that this is also a possible explanation.
I appreciate this.
From a technical perspective I believe it is a failing of the code that it makes no connectivity check before accepting the click and thus the post is never actually sent, resulting in it never even reaching the spam filter.
It will be part of the background coding of the site rather than anything NAS can edit I expect, but we can always hope.
I have sometimes noticed a faint cloud-style icon to the bottom right hand corner of the screen. When there is a line through it, it means there isn't currently a connection. You could perhaps keep an eye out for this.
For me it is a globe symbol but it often drops out for a few seconds here and there on the busy network here (millions of users in a few square miles in the city center).
I do need to get better at checking but after so long on a broadband connection I have gotten into lazy habits.
Thanks for the tips.
I'm familiar with the red-flagged alert. The point I hoped to make is that I have experienced posts going to moderation, but without receiving that accompanying alert. I was just trying to help by making you aware that this is also a possible explanation.
I would prefer if they could add a connectivity check before accepting the Reply button being pushed.
When using my phone and/or tablet (I can't immediately say for sure whether it's one on, the other or both), I have sometimes noticed a faint cloud-style icon to the bottom right hand corner of the screen. When there is a line through it, it means there isn't currently a connection. You could perhaps keep an eye out for this.
I normally get a red message flash up saying the post is being moderated but I have noticed for a long time now (even before the big upgrade) that if I go offline when posting it just dissapears and never is received.

It is one drawbacks of relying on mobine phone connectivity for long periods of time when working here.
I have had this happen before, more than once. In each case, I guessed correctly that the posts had gone to the moderation queue, but without showing any alert to me to indicate that's what had happened. I advised the community manager accordingly, by email.
Perhaps that's not the same reason in your case, particularly given that more maintenance has just taken place, but I wouldn't personally count on it. You might find that at least one of the original versions also appears in due course.
This has happened to me so many times that I've started copying what I write so I can quickly paste it afterwards so it isn't lost. Sometimes though if you press CTRL Z it can bring back the text but it doesn't always work for me.
Rosie Mod tagging you so you know about this bug, just in case you were unaware of it.
twice today I have written a lenghy reply to a post and when I press the reply button it dissapears.
In this situation it looks like the internet connection had dopped so that was the root cause, but is there any way to get back the long reply I made?
I would hope it would check for connectivity before choosing to just dump my message into the ether.
I'm now getting an orange bar at the top of my screen saying "There is an issue with your user account". Is that the same orange bar that other people mentioned getting? I'm not sure.
Also, I've not had any reply to my e-mail about all my posts going into moderation.
I'm now reading the thing every single time it comes up as 'I'm an f'ing human'.
Sorry but it's true.
Is that all you say! If I had an alexa or something listening in to me, it would probably learn a whole new vocabulary and worry about being made into a frisbee, I might be the only person in the world to have a totally paranoid alexa type assistant, in fact mybe I could introduce paranoia to the WWW, I'm sure that would make it better, frighten it into doing what I want rather than what it wants! (rubbing my hands with glee and giving an evil chuckle)
Because I am so polite and mild mannered I say oh dear me. Or something like that
I think my PC will be covering its ears soon.
Yes it's very tedious.
It's a bit tedious isn't it, I hope they fix it in the maintenance update. Because I am so polite and mild mannered I say oh dear me. Or something like that
I've just realised that every time the above comes up and asks me if I'm human I say F you at the screen.
Hover over the persons picture - and click on "send friend request" at the bottom of the enlarged box of their picture.......that's the first step.....or words to that effect....sometimes it says "send a message" or various stuff like that.
How do you do them?
PM's seem ok with me - fyi
