List of what is currently wrong with the forum

I was wondering if most people who contribute here are fine with no current problems, so I thought a list might be useful.

I'm rather despairing at the moment of its brokenness and absence of communication from NAS about a timescale (or anything) for sorting these.

It's making me wonder whether to bother any longer.

1. I know that   has a message coming up in orange at the top saying his account may/will be deleted.

2. I keep being logged out (orange banner at the top with a seconds countdown).

Is anyone else getting anything still (or even unable to use their original account?).

Has anything been sorted?

Thanks.

  • I noticed this too Bunny, I'm having to reboot it, sign out and in again, I wonder if this is anything to do with the work that was done last week? I thought we'd finished with all these problems, the site feels as though it's becoming unusable again.

  • I've been on a lot of forums since getting online in 1996.  Navigation wise this one is easily the worst I've ever used.

I am okay with navigating from the home page ~ but the nested threading on these forum pages is a serious head tester.

I do so very much prefer orderly sequential posts like all the other autistic and otherwise websites I visit.

  • I've found the forum to be very slow - and sometimes completely unresponsive - from time to time over the last week or so. An intermittent issue, not permanent.

Definitely this morning and this afternoon a bit.

Firstly it kept informing me that there was an error [with trying to post a post] and to contact the administrator if this continued, but I was too burnt out after having finished it. Then after giving up and browsing the site it got really jaggy, really slow, followed by a number of time outs. I tried several other website forums to see if this was a generalised thing ~ or perhaps my browser or my system was glitching, and much to my relief they all worked perfectly.

This must at least be the third forum system with almost exactly the same type of problems.

  • I didn't know this till last week. Altho as an animal with a highly tuned F or F, I can very much relate to their going about the world in their own oblivious little way.

  • Did you know that hedgehogs don't have a fight or flight response

Everyone knows that obscure hedgehog related detail.

  • Although it appears that way someone ( ?) did by private message to someone (Amerantin?) say that it's not actually being monitored (despite signs of the contrary).

Apologies, was attempting only to be science-fictional.

  • Yes, they told me by email that they don’t read PMs except in the case where someone emails them with the content of one.

  • private messaging is no longer private

increasingly more and more difficult to use!

    Indeed Slight frown

  • I find more that the over-zealous spam terminator has been upgraded ~ private messaging is no longer private and it is only a matter of time before SKYNET neurologically typifies us all with nanites through the finger tips!!!!!!!

And of course ~ always a particular pleasure to interact with you and all linguistically when I can, upgrading the anti-nanite typing rod with additional lengths just makes it increasingly more and more difficult to use! ;-)

  • I actually quite like it. Just needs a few tweaks.

  • Looking at the state of the world just now, i think we could all do with a hedgehog house to hide in

You are very welcome to join me in mine.

It's peaceful and yes, a world away from the world (did anyone mention Trump?)

  • Just an experimental posting to see if I am still being blocked until moderated

It's unbelievable really that you hardly ever post on here these days but come back for a short while and get moderated!

    Grrrrh.

The forum/spam filter faults are clearly still here.

    Slight frown

    Anyway, nice to see you.

    Heads back into hedgehog house.

  • I have adjusted my bio to more accurately reflect the reality, that I'm going to cease contributing to the forum, or using the moderated P.M. system here, very soon now.

I am keenly aware that my friends list will contain many people who are used to being "summarilly discarded", and I need to make sure that they know that I am not rejecting or discardng THEM.

  • Is there an even passable alternative?

......yes, real life.  On the telephone.  In person.

Needless to say, 'real life' and 'here' offer very different things.  I'm not saying they are the same and equal, I am saying that when 'here' feels unrewarding, we have the passable alternative of 'real life' .....and I think this is simply what many of us do....whether we like it or not.

  • 353 replies to this thread, and counting. What does that say about how bad this forum is?

Not all are negative, most are repetitive and it also highlights how many are still active in such a terrible place so it is really so terrible?

Yes it still has its issues and there seems no interest from NAS to resolve them in spite of the attempts to pressure them here.

Is there an even passable alternative? Alas no so I'm content with the still vibrant community that exists here in spite of its minor failings.
