Driving Lessons and Tests

On my test, a van was in front of me on an uphill road, when its back doors opened and large blue plastic barrels rolled out. I braked sharpish and the examiner said, "Well you've done your emergency stop".

Golly, it took me three goes to finally pass, I was convinced I would fail that time too, I'd had a really horrible examiner the previous two times, he failed me once for refusing to do a manoover he'd asked me to do because I thought it was a trick question. It was late December, at primary school kicking out time and it had just started to snow, it was dusk and there were loads of cars about and kids running around all excited. He told me reverse around a corner, I refused as I thought it was an accident waiting to happen, I don't think any sane person would of attempted to do that given the conditions

Get as much practise as possible, the more you do something that is initially daunting, the less daunting it becomes. I'm autistic and I passed the test on my first attempt, my daughter, also autistic, passed last week (2nd attempt), so it can be done!

Of course you're anxious, it something big and new and scary that you'll be tested on at a later date, driving isn't a natural skill that we're born knowing, why shouldn't you be anxious? Maybe thats a question you could ask your instructor?

I hope it gets easier with practice, I found I learnt better with an evening lesson than a day time one, I took lots of chocolate with me and bach rescue rememdy to help me stay calm.
