Riots

This surge in far-right violence is frightening me. I'm dreaming about it and having trouble focusing at the moment. My sensitivities seem to kick off badly when stuff like this is going on.

I keep away from the news best I can but it seems to be everywhere.

How do you deal with the issues out there today?

  • I have no examples to give.......but then again......I never posed that implication either.

I could not define "the Left", nor "the Right" if my life depended on it.

Personally, I'm autistic, and an independent thinker.

  • I develop habits quickly.  This site is just a site, so it's easier to post. The real world is more challenging, there are real consequences.

I always have to take a break form the real world. It's just too much sometimes. I prefer my own company over most others.

  • I agree with most of that actually.

I'm off now man.  I forgot it was the middle of the night.

This forum can be the absolute pits. I forewarn you of that.

I'm trying to quit posting but also I'm lonely.  I should just force myself out into real world again  At least you can choose who  you want to be around in the real world.

Alas, I will probably just slide back into total isolation if I manage to quit this.

    LIFE

  • Chaos is BAD

Order out of chaos. You know that scene in Jurrassic Park?

  • Society goes through these things, the UK is in a complete mess, and has been for decades now.  There's no such thing as peace, only a facade of co-operation If everybody was doing well, in a high trust society, there'd be no riots. I would say its a crisis in capitlism, everything is so ruthless and brutal nowadays. People are getting angry and nastier. Everything is rooted in economic competition. Technology is increasingly just a tool of the surveillance state. Everything to protect the system, screw the people is the modus operandi of 21st century.

But, i really don't pay much attention to politics, i just do my own thing. And i never liked government and never will. They're all crooks and puppets.

  • Who on the Left is inciting violence and chaos?  Can you give me some examples please?

  • Violence is being incited.  People will be killed.

Incitement is BAD - irrespective of the "side" 'one' thinks they are on.

Chaos is BAD - irrespective of the side you are on.

  • Inciting violence is bad though. People could get killed.

  • Thats what they said about bush in the 2000's . He would announce a state of emergency. it never happened. If anything like that happens, i would anticipate for this now current 'storm in a teacup' to really get out of hand

  • Thought police has been a thing for a while now anyway. People were being visited by police for twitter comments five years ago. People just angrier now. And will probably get angrier.

  • Look it up it’s true.

If 'one' has no context within which to filter the information discovered......then do so (ie look it up) , would merely reinforce whatever prejudice that 'one' had before...imho.

This is how 'targeted news' works...to the best of my knowledge.  It "hardens positions" at best...and "seeds division" at wost.

My understanding is that - whether you are "with us" or "against us"......if you blindly "look it up, online"....then you will be "hardened" in your pre-existing position.

[Unpacking my soap box....stepping up on my soap box.....]

When I hear something, or someone, whom makes me think "now there's a good thinker".....the first thing I do is look for EVERY detrimental thing that has ever been said about that person or that cause.

It is only then, after hearing BOTH sides of the story, that I choose to form an opinion.....and even then, I remain open to changing my opinion, if new evidence comes to light.

I don't understand why people don't CALMLY seek out the opposing position in order to "challenge" it.

I had presumed that this interrogatory modus operandi would be an autists "defluat position" = how very WRONG I was !

[Packing up my soap box, and choosing to migrate to a different place/thread.]

  • I wonder if any of  the people  using this forum to spread far-right  bollocks will be prosecuted?  Both the Prime Minister and Home Secretary have been quite  clear that they won't stand for online incitement

  • England lost in the finals again mate, that's why

  • It's a load of crap. Those people never once cared about these supposed issues until now, they're rioting because they're triggered that their favored party lost the election. It's no different to those muppets who stormed the capitol a few years back. And the ironic part is, the same people attacking the police now were accusing people on the other end of the political spectrum of attacking the police in 2020!

And to think the person who did that horrible thing in Southport wasn't even Muslim...mind you, I suppose these *** probably aren't even capable of understanding things such as that. Everything south of Marbella and Ibiza to them is probably Muslim!

  • I dont (GAF). I have my own problems (and passions.) Far more relevant than some stupid news story. If it kicks off round here, then i'll be concerned.

News events are like passing clouds that come and go.

  • I had the best fish and chips ever in Scotland(fish supper). My mum was from Aberdeen. Her mother from a small fishing village in Banffshire. Nearly all the male  ancestors on her maternal side were fisherman. Like many Scots she was a keen soup maker.

  • hey that guy Caelus was right actually. Starner is going to use this to enforce a strict police state on the British public. Look it up it’s true. This is like the country being put on lockdown. Don’t get me wrong what these people are doing with they’re riots is making things worse as it’s giving starmer the excuse he needs to shut down the country and label anyone that questions the government a far right fascist.

  • It’s certainly alarming. I feel lucky that I live in a rural area, so don’t feel under threat from it all - but my husband works in a city so he has no choice about going there. I’m just hoping things will calm down in time. I despise racism and violence and it’s horrible to see such ignorance and hatred on the streets.

  • Aside from the label of “far-right” which is being used and which is unhelpful and inflammatory, being used by the media and the Labour government alike, in order to discredit and undermine the genuine concerns of (peaceful and lawful) protesters, while I do understand that people have legitimate rights to (peacefully) protest on genuine concerns, there is never any excuse for rioting - I’ve watched extensive footage of the rioting from all over the U.K. and Ireland in the past few days and it’s quite clear that legitimate, peaceful and lawful protests by protesters with genuine concerns have been infiltrated by groups of paid agitators (by whichever source) for the sole purpose of causing trouble (just like there is on the far left and with the Palestine protests) and these agitators are trying to force the government to introduce a police state and martial law in the U.K., which sadly is a certainty and is only a matter of time - we see similar anti-immigration protests in Ireland and we see the same two-tier policing is happening with the Gardai, as they want to have an easy excuse to bring in martial law and police state (which will happen in Ireland much sooner) and those who are rioting are knuckle dragging idiots who are dragging us all down with them - ever since the fall of communism in Russia and Eastern Europe, the Fall of the Berlin Wall, Glasnost and Perestrokia, I often wondered if communism would ever come to the west and both with 9/11 and with Covid, I saw the beginnings of this - leftists, especially the far left, have always wanted to restore a form of communism or Marxism with elements of fascism, bringing it to the west, even if this is on behalf of and in service to their globalist deep state masters - whether this has anything to do with Christianity v Islam v Judasiam or Zionism it is hard to tell, but one thing that I am sure of is that mankind throughout history has always had a huge propensity for self destruction, what with wars and conflicts - they talk about global warming, climate change, aliens, asteroid strikes, earth moving towards the sun’s increasing mass and gravitational pull, solar flares, etc, but a potential attempt to bring in martial law/police state to quell disorder could ignite civil war/all-out race wars (where immigrants in reality are just as much victims of this as we are, being used as pawns in sick and twisted war games) and this could spark a world war, as Ukraine/Russia, Palestine/Israel, China/Taiwan are just some of the countries in conflict and this could involve nukes - any countries that feel threatened and who hold nukes, in such a situation of global conflict, will not hesitate to use these and will show far less restraint than the US, NATO, Russia or China in doing so

  • None specifically promoting Socialist or Communist ideology - redistribution of wealth, public ownership of the means of production or the dictatorship of the proletariat. Unlike the ones promoting Fascistic ideology - persecution of racial and religious minorities and their scapegoating, extreme militaristic nationalism, contempt for electoral democracy and political and cultural liberalism, a belief in natural social hierarchy and the rule of elites, and the desire to create social system in which individual interests are subordinated to the good of the nation state. Most of these Fascist tropes have been either obvious in the recent rioting, or are the goals of those orchestrating the thuggery from behind the scenes.
