What scares you ?

To be aware of it is the scariest thing in the universe --- If it exists outside our perception.  Awareness that we are nothing compared to the size of the universe and our time of existence in this universe is less than the blink of a cosmic eye. Awareness that our senses are drastically limited to perceive the true nature of the universe. Awareness that any amount of scientific knowledge won’t be enough for us to differentiate if the universe is subjective or objective, that we're pre-programmed or we have a free will, that we are created or are we the  result of some random events (or experiment). For me this is my broad view.  At a more personal level what scares you.

  • I’m almost the opposite - I’m unusually calm when I go to the doctors whether it’s because I’m ill or it’s normally quiet.

(There’s a saying beware the injured golfer because a lot of golfers play better when they are injured because it distracts them from what’s normally going on in their heads.)

I’m a bit uneasy round dentists though.

  • I have always had a fear of spiders and snakes. With regard to the latter, my mother has a phobia of snakes and I picked up on her fear at a very young age.

The sight of things like electricity pylons, TV and telephone masts scares me, and also the architecture of cathedrals and certain churches.

The prospect of ever needing to have an operation scares me. When I was pregnant with my son, I remember spending the last few weeks of the pregnancy feeling terrified that I would end up needing to have an emergency C-section.

  • Doctors. My body. (Sits in corner post meltdown, stimming frantically or goes into shut down while medical capacity is lost).

Other than that, moral bravery is born of  autism. Don't ask our opinion if you don't want the truth. Sycophanic posterior licking and social tyranies of the water cooler hold no fear for me. Don't try to understand it  Just ignore the lot of it and keep your own counsel.

  • Too abstract for me. I certainly don't have a clue!

  • i dunno.... i dont fly myself and never even go on local holidays... but migration is pretty high from other countries, china has a yearly event where all their people do mass global holidays, indians are very global too. those 2 countries make up most of humanity these days and they have a big global travel culture.

although india have less cars and more motorbikes... motorbikes are better for the environment, use less fuel too and less carbon footprint. i have a motorbike, its cheaper to insure, 200 quid per year.... a car is what 200 quid per month instead? ...was easy choice for me to make. i pick cheapest by far.

we have a different view on environment.... i think im more towards ted kazynskys view (without the bombings ofcourse lmao, if he didnt do that hed have really made some good changes and done good in the world) that we mist protect natural green spaces... and that these left leaning people now they will hijack the environmental cause and make it about the "air" instead and then destroy green spaces and spread cities while claiming to be environemtnalists because they do so while focusing just on the air....he was right... thats happening. i consider the climate change folks to be those type, that want to spread their cities and focus on little things that is not actually protecting the environment.

in my mind, we must rewild... we must cut back the urban places and recreate forests and woodlands... make the world beautiful.... but ofcourse my reason for that being that i want to live in a beautiful world, not a gray concrete world. for betterment of mental health... also it could do with being less cramped, too many people.... the lowering fertility rates everyone claims is bad i consider to be good. if we have less humans in the future, and more forests and woodlands... everyones mental health would be better. everyone can get out in and lose themselves in the green woods and forests and not see another human being and be able to unwind in isolation in woods in beauty.

but ofcourse, the current climate change people, they want to destroy the green spaces while focusing on the air, spreading their cities, increasing population ten fold, they are all fallen for corporatism of environment issues... thats why its spread by media and big companies... its warped and twisted to their desires of economic growth and that means more humans, more cities, less green, more growth of humanity and its constructs.... but they will say they are the environment side because they focus on the air cleanliness lol

so i sorta am for environment. but i dont trust the big media and social media pushed narratives. and i believe ted kazynsky was right about them. but he was a fool, if he didnt take to violence he could have made great movements and changes. its a shame what he did.

  • I know we've established in this thread that you're not super aware of the experiences and struggles of other groups of people, but the majority of the billions of people alive currently and in the future don't live lives of unrestricted driving and flying. The poorest people in the world are responsible for the least of the problems and face the harshest effects.

IIRC you're a climate change denier (correct me if I'm wrong and I apologise if I am) so I'm not sure how much point there would be in talking about how our selfish actions now will make the planet of future humans so much worse. Plugging our ears and carrying on as if nothing's happening isn't a good option.

  • but those billions also want to use their cars, fly and eat meat too.... so im not sure they are paying for it... they are enjoying it, and if theres anything bad from it then they were part of it anyway and would be happy to take any consequences of their own actions right?

  • Yes.  I like the Nor folks.

  • So did you see the truly remote parts of the coast more as beautiful or bleak? There were times when I walked for maybe an hour solid with nothing but saltmarshes on one side and sea defences on the other and not a soul to be seen. For me that feels uplifting, I love wide open space with nobody around, but I can see where some might find it agoraphobic.

  • Ah, you've been to Norfolk too then? Laughing

  • No just conducted in the appropriate space

For better or worse this community has rules and if you don’t like the rules you are welcome to leave.

  • im going to retract the latter part - there have been many people who have reached out or tried to reason with one individual, for which I am grateful. shoutout also to those who wanted to say something or get involved and held back - ive learnt my lesson!

  • ok so certain discussion and books shall be banned in society lmao
i think we are heading towards 1930s germany on this but yeah you lot are the good side while this one single person standing against you all is the bad guy lol

  • are you saying that only chattel slavery is bad and that every other form of slavery is ok and good then?

because in my view all forms of slavery is bad and i dont discriminate between each form... so i dunno this looks bad for you really, or selective.... im going to hold onto hope that your just selective here and you agree that all forms of slavery is bad...

  • to be fair there is a light at the end of this dark tunnel.... you said that racism makes you scared.... this has in turn proven to be false or you have got over that fear, for you have sided with a racist mindset against a anti-racist mindset... my words were all anti-racism while the others where based on hating a entire people for the actions of a few of them in ancient times... you sided with racism... congratulations, you dont fear racism, you join it...

  • I said the discussion not discussion in general.

  • a forum for discussion, is not the place for discussion?

ok im all ears, where is a place for discussion?

  • This isn’t the place for the discussion.

  • i gave you a chance to state your side but you came up with a one word rebuff that held nothing for your side but disrespect for mine. then that tiny time you tried to come up with something you tried to mention the slave trade and instead of coming up with a argument you instead just listed books....

im here for a discussion, you could have ripped my comment with fact, and if i read i could have conceeded and been turned to your opinion in some parts, not likely all... but the thing is you know you cant as you didnt have anything to actually say, just a disrespect that you could have kept to yourself. if your words was instead a comprehensive rebuff of my words, we could have talked, but it was a single word disrespect lol followed by a confirmation later on that i was right about you as you bring up slave trade and all white people bad ideas that are taught from marxist classes.

if you wish to wipe the slate clean, then do it, debate and point out how i was wrong, i might accept some parts, i might say some parts are irrelevant, most likely i have already wiped it away by pointing out how it happened ages ago and not all white people did it and isnt it the same as hating all muslims for 9/11??? to which you have no answer for because you know in your mind its logically right, at that point you have to admit you was wrong not then go and tell me to burn in hell like you did... which the mods warned you of doing lol
