Short-Term Memory problems

Not sure how long it will take for my account to be closed on here, so I'll ask this question and hope someone might be able to advise before that happens.

My short-term memory is gradually getting worse and worse.

Not sure if this is due to ASD or Type-1 Diabetes (frequent Hypos).

Anyone else experience memory problems?

Have any advice/tips to help, please?

Thank you.

  • Okay. Thank you. I was just worried for him.

  • Hope Mark doesn't mind my answering for them. They asked for it to be the other day, after deciding this place wasn't as for them as they'd hoped.

  • Why will your account be closed?

  • Definitely have issues with this. I've also twice today had intsnaces where halfway through a sentence I forget what on earth I was talking about and had to apologise. Important work stuff too. Embarrassing and concerning.

My long term memory is much better - though the main problem is that my brain's storage capacity is 90% occupied with Doctor Who minutiae, 5% with other cult/niche stuff, and 5% everything else that can be squoze in.

As a consequnce, I'm a pretty useless person for anything practical or requiring common sense. And for generalities of 'good stuff to know' have a memory like... er... what do you call that thing you strain rice through?

  • My memory isn't good. It never has been.

    I'm not even 30 yet but it's like I'm in my 80s...

At school I got in trouble for forgetting things. Short term memory is rubbish.

I'm constantly having to make notes to remember things.

I've reset my password here many times already.

  • My short term memory problems come and go.

When I have problems remembering I try to think of mnemonics.

  • I have the memory of a goldfish. And I often get part way thru a sentence & completely forget what I was talking about!  It's so annoying, I forget stuff constantly. It's a brain fog thing, & I have 5 different conditions that can cause brain fog.
