The Queens passing as a fundamental change to be assimilated

Like alot of people Queen Elizabeth was the only monarch I'd ever known.  I feel sad at her passing, and remain in awe of her carrying out duties -  ones that I could not even comprehend trying to do - for 70 years, when it was never her choice.

But I think my reaction is more about the fundamental change in the status quo.  Our country is already on very rocky ground with poor environmental choices and the escalating cost of living and I feel that this event has just tipped things over the edge for me....

I wondered if anyone else had felt that way?

I feel like I need time to think about it and understand it, work out how it will affect me (media input, conversations, future impact) before I can get on with other things again.

  • Personally, I think we need to ride the wave the monarchy will endure with Charles as King, until William takes over in 10/15 years. Then he will be the steady ship we all knew with Elizabeth at the helm.

It's the Tories I think we need to worry more about!

  • One thing I did like was how no shops played music the day after she passed away. I think it was nice as a mark of respect but also it made me realise how much the music in shops bothered me! I found shops so much more peaceful without it, they were slightly less of a sensory overload. I wish they could do that every day of the year

  • well tldr it was basically no change, everything will carry on as usual, this makes no difference, and your the one that entered climate stuff along in your thingy so i just addressed everything you wrote, so not entirely sure theres a topic change there, the addressing of concerns was on point to a level of addressing every single comment there was in there lol

  • This is a big change so I'm not surprised it's having this effect. It's had similar on me and I read shops are closing on Monday out of respect for the Queen, so that's got me in a bit of a panic as well. And then there's the change of the new King to get used to as well as a new PM I'm trying to adjust to. I feel you, I really do! Take as much time out as you need to get all this processed. It's bound to take a while so try to take your time and adjust.

  • The down vote was because the comments are not relevant to the initial question.

The question was about change, not your personal opinion about the monarchy or the environment.  Your response may be valid, but it is off topic.

  • furthermore the cost of living will continue to rise the more green we get..... all the cars now going to be using the electric grid... this is the cause for electric to rise... the real cause, because they see this and they want the cost of recharging your electric car to be the same as the cost of refueling it, they want to replacing fuel with electric in every way and that means they want as much money per mile off your electric as they do off fuel... which means electric was always going to have to rocket in price to fill that gap of the soon to be missing fuel cost for the economy. it has to rise... but you see we also use electric for homes and business so because were switching to green cars its gonna cost you a absolute bomb on your house electric bills. the green stuff has caused this cost of living crisis.... and it will get worse as i dont think electric is yet at the price to truly replace fuel per mile cost on vehicles yet, and all cars are not yet sapping away at our grid yet. and for one you know our grid isnt good enough to provide the current electric needs and you want all the cars to be on it when were already getting blackouts without all the cars sapping off it? and we have less electric production because we got rid of most of our dirty energy production.... this is why we have a cost of living crisis... you have to pay for this yourself, you cannot demand green everything and yet not pay a price for it when its gonna be super expensive and create more demand on the grid and yet less production for the grip.... less electric in the grid but a higher demand for it.... yeah, its madness, think on that next time you ask for green stuff and then have the cheek to also complain about cost of living, the green stuff you demand comes with a high cost of living....

as for the royals they are hypocrites anyway, charles took a private jet to some random pacific island one time to lecture them about climate change... yet his jet caused more carbon than what the islanders would create in 1 million years of their life!

  • down vote all you want its just plain ignorance to claim we are the worst environmentally, do the research, we are not... we are the best environmentally but that is due to the fact our country is so rich it can pay to be as green as possible, poor countries do not have this privilege.... it is a rich privilege to be environmentally friendly and your just all being arrogant snobs and ignorant of the world and its poverty.

furthurmore it goes against the green agenda to criticise and claim the greenest environmentally friendly nation on eart is the bad guy... your literally just attacking the nations that put in the effort and go zero carbon.... so if you do that and attack them when they are the greenest what incentive do they have to carry on like this? ... they wont... because if they become the champion and the greenest and you still criticise them then it shows that green isnt a problem, pandering to it is the problem and tackling the problem is the problem while if we ignored it and went full dirty energy youd not say a word and the country would be better off and without criticism... it doesnt pay us to help or do the right thing because you criticise for doing the right thing and yet its ok if we did the wrong thing instead?

this is also why countries that dont have a word for racism claim they have no racism problem but are the most racist on the planet but they dont have a word for it and so it isnt recognised and so you all see them as not racist when they are the biggest shut off racists in the world. looking at you china!

  • The Queen had a global impact for anyone who considered the standard she set and admired her. She was the original 'influencer' and made the effort to appear responsible for the power she held. While pageantry isn't an Autistic sport, I have come to recognise it is greatly needed by mass NTs, who might not have the same rich 'inner' life, who might not be able to make all kinds of connexions or see patterns or find wonder in the most obvious or boring of elements. There is a side to mass neurosis we could be good to mind and that is they can be a mob in need of a Scapegoat. The Monarchy is thus. The source of their problems and redemption. It sounds mysterious, but a little indulgence into psychology and wow, it's riveting. The more I've come to understand just how figureheads work with neurosis, the more gratitude I have for these individuals who really could relinquish their roles and just eff off with the money like Harry and Meghan. They don't have to keep the 500 patronages, the 600 charities, while I do take issue with some particular financial events in the last 10 years.

However, her influence and those before her (to a certain point) is best seen in how the wealthy commit a part of their income, resources and time to ward bettering the lives to others. It's clear in public spaces, gardens, galleries and libraries and other  education freely available to the public, such as not available in other countries.

Meanwhile, in true Republican form, then there's Americans like Jeff Besos and Donald Trump. Who couldn't care much but to acquire wealth at the expense of others. Let alone the standard they set. Besos only started caring about charities as of recent, spending less than a percent - one percent - of his income. Americans can have little regard (if any) for the dignity of others. A system where medical bills will leave you on the streets and Autistic kids end up mimicking the worst qualities of humans, and then being left to rot.  :(

  • It's more like how many Americans see their flag.  A symbol of our patriotism, we swear allegiance to our monarch and we take offence if anyone (not rom UK) disrespects them

  • I think thats very likley. Its two changes at once so not easy

  • Thank you - I wonder if the change in PM followed immediately by the change in monarch made things harder than they would otherwise be.  Everything feels very unsettled at the moment!

  • Thank you - I think you're right in that we're used to seeing her at points in the year and that has now stopped

  • It's a huge change, for everyone really and it's going to take a lot of getting used to, for me as any change is head spinning for me. The Queen has always been here for my 25 years alive and now she's gone, no more public speaking, no more Christmas speech, just one more event - her funeral. Very sad. And then have to adjust and get used to the new King.

I suppose we have no choice but to get used to this big upsetting change but it will take a lot of time for me.

  • I can understand how you feel

I personally didnt feel like that about the change of monarch but I do feel like that whenever there is a general election or change of PM. I got very anxious during the last election and getting a new Prime Minister last week made me very anxious. I hate thinking how it can bring changes to the country and makes things more unpredictable. I hate change

If its any comfort to you, the change from the Queen to King Charles shouldnt bring about many changes in the country as the monarch is mainly just a figurehead and has very little power. Not much will change

    Hope that helps
