Hello,
Hello,
i just can't understand the attitude of the parents, I have 2 kids and will support them in whatever they do
Have you looked into all the possibilities of working in nature? I say this because if you can do a certain amount of research and provide your parents with a list of ALL the possible future positions you could work toward being qualified for while working at the garden centre, Provide this list, each job with a current salary, and the qualifications involved in each, perhaps this would be sufficient for them to - possibly even help you - create a future career while keeping your current job. In fact, you might be able to take 1-2 classes a week learning more about plant life while working at the garden centre. You might even be able to find a mentor.
I'm REALLY puzzled as to why they believe Media would provide a better future than the unbelievable possibilities which you could "un-earth" (haha) in Gardening, Conservation, Countryside Management, Horticulture, Greenhouse/Nursery Positions, Landscaping, Groundskeeping, Forestry, not to mention jobs with plant nutrition, soil and Micro-organisms, pond life, permaculture...
Are they mad???? Humans who work in media can usually only specialise in one role and the job market is excruciatingly TINY.

yes, and if you do well you may be able to persuade your parents that this is the right path for you
It is a shame about college. It is a good idea to get a job in a garden centre at the weekends which I like.
shame, i guess it's like others and you have said try to get to a garden centre at weekends and see how it goes
Hello,
I unfortunately can't switch courses to a gardening one because it isn't an option at my college
Could you maybe switch courses to a gardening type one?
I have explained to my parents that I want to work at a garden centre. I will have a think about volunteering at garden centres.
You have tried to explain to your parents that, even if seemed inappropriate, working at a Garden Centre is what you ultimately want do, no? Sadly, they undoubtedly want the best for you, but I'd guess that they think better qualifications to get a better job-and that means letting go of the Garden Centre dream in their opinion. Thing is, if someone on the Spectrum hates something, even if it might be good for them in some ways? They will eventually go where they feel most happy, because that's what they know and want. They think you'll be better off for what they have you working on, probably correctly, but it wouldn't make you happy. That's a very important distinction.. My advice would be to start with Placements/Volunteering at Garden centres if possible and, maybe, your parents will relent on seeing you happy?
Thank you very much for your reply. I'd just prefer to be working in a garden centre right now because I'd be happier there as college is a living agony for me. My parents can't afford for me to sit at home every day and they payed £100 for the course, and they want me to get the grades for a better job than the garden centre. I'm quite happy with the grades I've got already. I might be able to find a job at the garden centre at the weekend and I will keep looking for jobs that involve nature.
Speaking from my own experience if you don’t enjoy your course you’re unlikely to find the motivation to work hard enough to be able to pass it. Do your parents understand that? Are they paying the fees or do you have a student loan? There’s not really any point forcing you to study something you don’t enjoy especially if you’ll never use the qualification in the future. Are you able to get a low hours weekend job at a local garden centre or maybe volunteer at a local wildlife park or zoo for a few hours at the weekends? Then if you are really sure you want to take that direction and they are happy to take you full time then drop out of college? Shops will also have fire drills though and it will be up to the management whether they are the same time every week or random. There maybe noisy cages rolling around or other equipment too to bear in mind not just fire/theft alarms
