Asking for diagnosis tomorrow!

Me too! The initial assessment wasn't quite as daunting for me but I'm a bit anxious about the main one. Not sure why? Probably the unknown! 

I agree it was really daunting. I was physically shaking! Hopefully assessment won't be as stressful for me :]

I'm glad it went well. Personally I found the initial conversation with the GP the hardest part so far. I've now been through the initial assessment process and although it was very personal to answer so many questions about myself, it was the saying "I think I might be autistic" aloud to the GP which was daunting. 

It went well! The GP believed me straight away and sent me an online form to fill out where I just had to say why I think I could be autistic. She's written a letter to refer me to get assessed :]

I know I'm late here, but I emailed (I say emailed but it was more like a message system they use through Patient Access) a document with my reasons across to my GP when I requested an appointment. It did turn out to be a good idea anyway because I did get flustered on the phone call and couldn't explain everything I'd already written down.

Maybe my GP will offer that too if I'm struggling a lot. Someone else mentioned they emailed their GP so maybe that could work to

I handed my notes in after my phone appointment. I had to write it down cos I knew when the gp would ask me, I'd struggle to explain myself.

Once I managed to get the word "autistic" to come out of my mouth the rest was a bit easier to say. It just all came rushing out of my mouth like I couldn't stop even if I had wanted to. It was a huge relief. 

My GP actually directed me to my local adult assessment team and they had a self-referral form, so I hadn't actually needed to speak to the GP at all, but the good thing is that she was kind and agreed with me, which gave me a bit of confidence to then complete the self-referral form.
